James Cregg reportedly was on plane to BR.

He was OL coach at LSU in 2019. Was Asst OL coach at Ole Miss this season.
So it appears LSU would have John Garrison and James Cregg working with the O Lineman.

Cregg was the worst OL recruiter I’ve ever seen. The cupboard was bare when he was finally fired.
I know we have the opposite issue now. We need balance. But if he’s an analyst and Garrison is the OL Coach, we should be good. OM has been top 3 in the SEC is rush yards since Kiffin arrived in 2020. I trust those numbers.

Not a huge fan of cregg either. I like John garrison though.

Recruiting is overrated now anyway. Flash money in front of them you get them. Can he coach? 2019 OL for LSU was pretty damn good.

Cregg sucked balls as a recruiter. He came in 2nd or lower for all of his top targets and then scrambled for 3 star projects.
I know we ended up with the polar opposite in Davis, but Cregg was still fired for good reason beyond the lawsuit at the time.

LSU is under new management now.
The prior admin got forced out for not doing whatever it takes to win and holding grudges (for example, there was a real push to get Wade back to LSU last spring to which Tate and Woodward immediately said no. That hastened their departure).
I think the new admin, which is basically just "yes men" for the Governor and LSU boosters, are all in with a "win at all costs" approach given it is a new landscape where the previous rules don't really apply. It almost seems a bit like the 70's/80's Al Davis Raiders. You want to do hot yoga with co-eds and married women? Fine. You want to constantly troll on twitter? No problem. You want to rehire guys LSU previously ran off? Sure. Got caught on a wiretap talking about paying players and lied to the admin about it? Who cares?

You are forgetting the most important element of OL Recruiting- EVALUATION. OL out of HS are rarely ready to contribute at an SEC level. Money aside, you have to spend it on the right guys for your offense and your needs.
Cregg was bad at that too at the end. Just look at what was left when Davis took over. Dellinger, Turner and Martinez were the only SEC-quality OL left in 22, and 2 of the were just barely SEC level. Every other player left for the G5 or FCS. That’s pretty bad.
Again, he won’t be the guy in charge of the OL, so it’s fine. But we don’t want him running that unit, even with a stack of cash to spend.

I don't like that idea (not that it matters) I just remember that he wasn't much of a recruiter, but if Lane sees something in him, then so be it.
