...I direct your attention to the 1988-89 Michigan Wolverine hoops team. A week before the Big Dance, their head coach announced his intention to leave for Arizona State job. Their AD, Bo Schembechler, told him to GTFO and named Steve Fisher as the interim. The result? A national championship.

I don't disagree. But, the reason they don't win it all won't be because Lane left now. Money considerations aside, I cut Lane loose if I'm OM.
