LSU doesn't really have an option re: playoffs

If Lane wants to coach the playoffs and OM allows it, LSU really can't say no if he intends to sign with LSU.

Honestly, my thought was that he was needed at LSU ASAP, but hire O amd keep Frank. Hire the rest of the staff and have the coaches and GM navigate ESD and the portal for a couple of weeks. It's not ideal, but can be done.

It's not LSU not letting Lane coach the playoffs, its Ole Piss not letting him coach the playoff. That's been the issue all week. He wants to coach till the team loses and then come to LSU, Ole Piss wants him either to sign an extension or leave soonest.

They would have to get him under contract. That's the big part of it. They wouldn't be able to wait on an answer.

This. Announce and get a staff in place to handle signing day and portal. It’s all about cash now.

If Lane did head to BR then it would be a good thing for LSU to let him coach the playoffs. Let’s just say he somehow wins it, everyone will give the credit to LK as a national championship winning coach. Ole miss wins by making other coaches believe you can win there, LK wins by being a NC winning coach, LSU wins by having anNC winning coach recruiting for them. Wins all around.

They said from the beginning, they would wait. There is no downside from the LSU perspective.

LSU will let him coach if he signs. Frank will keep the class together then move in to Verge's old job if LK doesn't have a spot on staff.

I can’t imagine OM allowing that. Or the NCAA committee for that matter. That is, in part, why Kiffin remains at OM. Path of least resistance as well.
