**18** of Ole Miss's starting football players for the 2025 season are transfers.
This is based on the current depth chart from Ourlads.com as of late November 2025, covering 11 offensive starters (QB, RB, 3 WR, TE, 4 OL in spread offense), 11 defensive starters (4 DL, 3 LB, 4 DB in 4-2-5 scheme), and 2 special teams starters (PK/KO).
Among them, transfers include QB Trinidad Chambliss (Ferris State), RB Kewan Lacy (Louisville), WR De'Zhaun Stribling (Oklahoma State), WR Harrison Wallace III (Penn State), TE Dae'Quan Wright (Tennessee), OL Diego Pounds (Alabama), OL Delano Townsend (Maryland), OL Patrick Kutas (SMU), LB Jaden Yates (Oregon State), LB TJ Dottery (Colorado State), CB Antonio Kite (Auburn), S Kapena Gushiken (Washington State), S Wydett Williams Jr. (LSU), CB Chris Graves Jr. (Illinois), NB Jaylon Braxton (Arkansas), and PK Lucas Carneiro (Jackson State).
The Rebels' heavy reliance on the portal aligns with coach Lane Kiffin's strategy, with over 30 transfers added in the offseason.
Earlier projections from sources like Sports Illustrated and Clarion Ledger noted fewer (around 14-15), but mid-season adjustments and injuries have elevated more transfers into starting roles on defense and special teams.
The state of MS DOES NOT have enough blue chip talent to rely on.
Thus, Lane and co. have to hit on the portal EVERY YEAR at an unbelievable clip.
He knows that you can’t do this with significant consistency like you can at LSU.

I'm confused, so what happened the past few years with LSU, their great advantages and the top 10 coach they stole from notre dame?

He’s won 10 games 4 out of the past 5 years doing it. I just think Kiffin is the type of coach that isn’t ever gonna stay 10 years at a school.

First dozen players on Mississippi are as good as any anywhere else.
The problem is there is a dropoff to the next dozen.

Good point, but tbf I personally never liked BK. But I also didn’t want Riley. O beat us into a bad place. But if we’re being honest, talent got us as successful as we were, not the coaching. The coaching LOST us games. We squandered those rosters. But I agree that we wasted all those years and money. But the fact of the matter is, Louisiana can literally sustain itself with Blue Chip talent. Mississippi can’t.

1) Kelly mailed it in at LSU. More and more is coming out now that he is gone
2) Even with his lack of focus and want to, he still managed two 9 win seasons, one 10 win, a Heisman QB, and an SEC Championship appearance.
Now, imagine if Lane brings his offense and exerts just a tad more energy to the program than Kelly did.
LSU will make the playoffs every year and compete for actual conference and National championships.
If you don’t agree with what I posted, the put forth your own theory on why Kiffin is looking to leave the Sip. I think deep down you know this is what he’s thinking.

Ole Miss thinks they can get back to pre-integration days. The last 5 years are an aberration (and a gift). They should be grateful while it lasted.

Look Kiffin asked Saban and Saban told him LSU. As did Sexton. Look at the NFL rosters. I don't think this was a hard business decision..
