Speck Calls

Want to hear some opinions on speck calls. Looking into Riceland and Redbones, but open to other suggestions as well. Anything to know about barrel size, sound, barrel size, and acrylic vs poly?

That is the one I currently have, its a hand me down from my father. Have friends that have a Redbone and a Riceland, much easier to blow than the Chien Caille. I can do a couple clucks here and there, but not much more than that. Looking for something easier to blow and sound better than what I am currently capable of.

Have an Iceland I received as a gift, 2 chien cailles, don’t use either anymore but any will work.

Keep it in your truck and practice while you drive alone

Chien Caille is what I have, even have Mervin’s CD on how to blow it. Still works great…

Check out the Haydel that looks like carbon fiber. My son got one and he can make it sound good. First speck call he’s been able to blow (just learning this yr).

Tim grounds super speck
Pacific 530
Red bone
Do not recommend this. Hand placement is very important on a goose call of any sort. You will develop bad hand placement habits trying to practice while driving.

If you are serious about trying to kill specks. Riceland, Redbone, or Vendetta in no particular order. These calls make every sound a speck makes plus some. Just find which one fits your calling style best.

Riceland is awesome. And id assume you can still go by the shop/house and have them hand tune your call for your style when you buy one.

Disappointed to open this thread and it not be about luring trout to the boat.

You triggered my memory bank
Before speck hunting was cool a guy named Rocky Russo was the best around. Guy cut up a ton of chein cailles and could blow them all.
Last time I saw him he was at stellys in an aro star van with a windshield and probably 4,000 rags going hunting.
Anyone remember him?

Guys I go with both use Riceland and they sound so good that I don't bother to try and help them call.

Riceland makes an awesome call but if your just starting out id recommend an echo specko. To me its one of the easiest speck calls to use.
