25 years or older
Unemployed -

HS Diploma 27% of unemployed

4 year Degree 25% of unemployed

Basically the same

Colleges have increased tuition to make profit while offering more degrees that are utterly worthless. Combined with social pressure “if you don’t go to college you’re not smart”…kids are stuck with debt and possibly having a degree that is worthless.

Hey at least they’re “educated” though. Which means absolutely nothing in 2025.

White collar being decimated by H1-B policies. You can't hide anywhere in this economy anymore.

Are H1-Bs increasing that much under Trump?

Its snowballing (re-ups + new) and he's doing essentially nothing about it. The 100k is nothing in the big picture. Modern day photo op.

Its not just H1B its OPT, H4EAD, J1, etc.

Putting even one green card Indian in a hiring / decision making role starts a massive chain reaction that ends with the entire department becoming Indian due to nepotism and kickbacks

It was happening before and will happen after Trump. Take a drive through some suburban and metropolitan areas in the USA and you see MOSTLY folks who are here, and have been here for a while, on H1Bs. It is mind boggling how they are literally building entire communities made up of H1B enclaves.

There are elementary schools in the Dallas area that are 100% Indian

I used to run by one in the Las Colinas area. You could actually smell it when school got out for the day

That doesn't just happen unless its being allowed to happen

Entire departments at my last job in the Coppell area were 100% Indian top to bottom. IT, Data Engineering and Software Engineering. What are the odds that just happened naturally?

What percentage are like these? Plus all the gender studies nonsense.

bro continue to fight that fight.

its so fricking infuriating. Trump is mother fricking wrong on this and should stop H1B visa for anyone making under 500k at a minimum.

personally i think you pause the whole fricking program.

same with immigration. pause it all

Illegal immigration and H1B visa abuse are the 2 biggest problems in this country along with the loans/grants they give to many coming over.

In the real economy there’s a huge shortage of skilled labor. The current crop of college graduates is largely worthless. They have no common sense or problem solving skills. I blame the parents and schools for creating a generation of graduates who are unsuited for the workforce.

With AI, I expect an inverse relationship to develop between the Stock Market and employment.

Possibly. But businesses are desperate for younger workers who are competent. The current college graduates who appear normal and have developed knowledge in their fields are going to profit in this market. The others who were coddled by schools and/or parents will not.

And the country is in need of electricians and other trades…. Just in Mississippi there’s 3 plants being built right now or soon ( starting in the summer). With the money put on those jobs there won’t be many working the regular work. IBEW local directory

I will always fight the fight because I've seen it affect me and others

At my last job I worked with a guy who got shot in Iraq. Moved his entire family from Atlanta to the Dallas area for this job.

After a mere 5 months he was let go (along with me and 7 others) and replaced by an Indian H1B after we hired a new VP of Technology. And we had to train said H1Bs to get our severance.

When I got laid off he was being laid off in the meeting room next to mine. I took mine pretty well since it was the 3rd time it had happened to me but I could hear him screaming and he had to be escorted out by security.

Way to treat a veteran who was shot in the line of duty.

These foreign work visas destroy families and communities. A lot of us did the right thing, went to school, learned technological skills that we were told would always be in demand and lead to high paying careers, only to be replaced by lying fradulent foreigners and told its our own fault for being lazy and incomptetent.

100% its fricking bullshite

and Elon and others say they cant find the americans to do the jobs which is total bullshite

and fine, if you want to bring them in, should have to pay like 3x prevailing wage to do it and honestly, we should put a 100% hold on all immigrants from india or the middle east. if you want to bring them in, they should be from europe or east asia. Indians and those from the ME do not assimilate and live by a different culture, frick them.

but its not being abused only in the tech sector, its being abused all over. I mean we have indians and those from nepal getting grants, buying gas stations and bringing family over under h1b as store clerks...its fricking bullshite. just another form of illegal immigration.

sorry, all immigration, including h1b visa should have a 5 year pause, period. no exceptions. Review all h1b visa in that time frame and implement very very strict rules on their use going forward after that and go back to old origins quota system. fricking LBJ is still fricking this country.

I don’t think H1B holders are flooding in for social worker/counselor, early elementary education, and other low-skill occupations that should never require a 4-year degree.

this is starting to be misnomer at this point.

If a kid graduated high school anyway time in at least the last decade, there was plenty of chatter, if not hostility on the price and worthlessness of majority of undergraduate degrees.

Keeping on with the same tag line excuse is disingenuous.

shite you could even say anyone graduating hs in the last 20 years heard the same sentiments about higher ed. If they chose to go that route, own it

My fiancée is running into this hard with dental students. Every successive class just seems to get dumber on average, fewer seem to be interested in becoming skilled professionals and more about checking boxes for graduation requirements. Coupled with the flood of "digital dentistry" tools, they just want to learn point-and-click workflows without understanding the fundamentals. Their business plans involve getting out with their DMD, buying $500k in digital equipment and software, churn out junk dentures and implants, work 3 - 4 days a week, and make $300k+/year. There are plenty who already do that too.
