Juwan Johnson:

49 receptions, 537 yards and three touchdowns. Tied for fourth in the NFL for yards and sixth for catches over 20 yards. Projected for over 800 yards by season’s end.

Chase Young:

4 sacks in 6 games. One forced fumble. Would project for double digit sacks over 17 games.

Still drops to many critical passes.

Doubt he'll ever be a double digit sack edge but he effects QB's and crates opportunities for the defense to make plays.

The Johnson contract was always fine. He’s the 13th highest paid TE.

He’s had bad drops but he’s on target for a top 5 season for a tight end. That’s a big departure from the critiques on this board when he was signed to the new deal.

I hated the Young resigning but he’s been good. Johnson was still a terrible signing. He wouldn’t see the field much on most competent teams. Yes he’s the best we have which speaks volumes of our roster management and front office.

Good for Juwan Johnson,

Not so good for the New Orleans Saints as a team.

Shough throws a more catchable ball than Rattler. Probably a big deal when you’re the 3rd target and the qb is on the move.

Both signings were fine. It sucked Chase got hurt and juwan is infuriating with fricking up the little things and looks incredible on the difficult play. both saved cap and are huge positions of need right now. Defensive end salaries are nuts right now. Chase is getting paid nickels compared to the elites.

JJ would be an ideal TE2 on a contending team. You dont want to rely on him in critical situations. Same tier as Kyle Pitts.

CY, disappointing that he missed so many games, but his contract is fair otherwise.

Cole Kmet, Mark Andrews, and Jonnu Smith all make more than Johnson.

Those 3 have a combined 664 yards this season. Johnson has 537.

He scored the game clinching touchdown vs Carolina. I’m open to him improving on drops with a different QB.

Yeah, I don’t think people realize how bad some of the higher profile names have been this year.

You’re going to have nice numbers when you’re funneled targets on a terrible team. Outside of the Carolina game I’m not sure anyone can recall a Juwan Johnson moment outside of the miscues he’s made. Empty stat compiler. It’s not his fault but I’d much rather him have less stats and have more important catches

Not to mention

Kmet has Colston Loveland and multiple good WRs
Johnu has friermuth and Darnell Washington along with DK
Andrews has Likely and they’ve thrown the least amount in the league

We need to actually bitch about the Granderson signings because he has been absolutely QUIET.

This board busts a nut over Brock Bowers, which is the same deal. And yea I know Bowers is way better.

I don’t love Juwan Johnson and would have been 100% fine letting him walk. But he’s a fine player, making average money and we can move on after 2026 if we want.

I think we need a second tight end similar to what the Bears did. Kmet is a fine te and they brought in Loveland.

Shough and Juwan have a connection. Maybe it's because Shough throws a more catchable ball than Rattler, but Juwan has only gotten better.

Chase Young is so good. I love how he’s 491st in total tackles (an embarrassing 17 combined and paltry 9 solo), tied for 47th in sacks and is paid the same as Jonathan Cooper, Rashan Gary (tied at 11th in the NFL with 7.5 sacks and 30+ tackles) and Bradley Chubb (5 sacks and 30+ tackles).

And don’t talk about not playing in all the games this year. Just because he played a full season one time while on a prove it deal doesn’t take away from his injury history.

I’ll admit that Chase had two big plays yesterday and he will have a moment here and there. My biggest problem is the opportunity loss we have by keeping him, Cam and Granderson. They are all similar guys who aren’t “the guy”. Young is injury prone and has two moves, bull rush and run past the QB or RB. He hustles which I like, but he’s just not that good. He’s simply a better looking turd on a turd riddled team.
