Both 1 ring with stafford capable of getting a 2nd. Aaron played for the storied Green Bay packers while Stafford played for the lowly Lions and then the rams at the backend of his career. I say from start to finish Stafford gets the slight nod.

The fact that you could even ask this question is testament of the rapid downfall of Rodgers. Rodgers was supposed to break every NFL passing record and now he is sort of a bum.

Who was the best receiver Rodgers ever had? Adams? Jordy Nelson?

Rodgers never exactly had a great stable of receivers or backs.

The Packers roster as a whole was largely dog shite for Rodgers entire career. He always had a talented receiver but that was about it.

He had great production out of his wr corps but the defense was always their downfall in the playoffs. They used their 1st rd picks on defense nearly every year but they typically picked late.

Old man Stafford currently has an ancient Adams and 5th round Puka, but is playing at an MVP caliber level.

Rodgers didn't start his first game until he was 25 because he had to back up Favre for three seasons and then he missed half of two seasons with injuries. Nobody expected him to catch Manning and Brady.

Stafford is having a crazy good year though. I think most people assumed he would be retired by now and might win the MVP.

I think it’d do well to also consider who they’re playing for.

I think Stafford is a hall of famer. Rodgers is an all time great.

Rodgers - 4 All Pros
Stafford - none

Rodgers - 10 Pro Bowls
Stafford - 2

Rodgers - 4 League MVPs
Stafford - none

Stafford spent over a decade with a horrible team and was largely invisible but not by his opponents. They knew how good he was/is.

But Rodgers has been relevant since his first start and has the individual hardware to make a legitimate claim for top 7 all time.

Was he the last QB taken before the restructuring of the rookie deals?

This isn’t a real discussion.

Rodgers still has the second highest Passer rating of all-time, the lowest int% of all-time, has 4 MVPs, has 4 first team APs and a second team All-Pro, and is in the top 5 all time in Passing Yards and Passing Touchdowns.

Stafford is a slam dunk HOF QB. Rodgers has a chair at the table of discussion of greatest QB of all time with Manning, Montana, and Marino (and eventually Mahomes).

Yea, it’s much better now. They still reach on a lot of QBs but there’s a lot more instances where guys can struggle early, move around and resuscitate their careers now.

The loss to the Brady-led Bucs was on him though and I believe the signal to the Packers organization that Rodgers was no longer that guy

Based on what? 2 Pro Bowls? #9 in career passing yards is impressive but how much of that was a function of those Lions teams constantly playing from behind? How much of that goes away throwing to a generic WR1 instead of the beginning of his career overlapping with the prime of the best receiver of his generation?

It's an easy argument that he wasn't even Top 3-5 at his position in his 2 best seasons (2011 and 2021). He was reliably a Top 10-15 QB but he was never elite. Certainly not elite over a sustained enough period of time to deserve consideration

Remember when the Packers D in the Playoffs were busy tailoring CK's Gold jacket?

Hard to win Playoff games when your D gives up 45 points in the Divisional round and they gave up 37 points the year before in the Divisional round as the #1 seed.

These were prime Rodgers years after the Super Bowl win and the Packers mucked it up.

Rodgers never exactly had a great stable of receivers or backs.
from his 1st start he had arguably the best WR group in the league.(Jennings Driver etc) Adams is a borderline HOFer. Cobb was a top 5 slot. Graham was still solid. Jones was a top 10ish back for nearly decade
