What are the pros and cons of hiring Kiffin?

Cons
Horrible reputation for suddenly leaving teams (see Alabama and TN).
Drama and spends a lot of time on social media. Distracting?
Never won anything of consequence at a 1A school.
Got Ole Miss into playoffs with a schedule filled with weak teams but for two. No Bama, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Missouri.
Teams are not known for being physical.
Never really recruited well.
Relies heavily on the portal.
Pros
Outstanding offensive mind. Highly innovative.
Took Ole Miss to heights not seen since Johnny Vaught 60 years ago.
Made Ole Miss relevant.
One of the best developers of quarterbacks. Can spot those diamonds in the rough.
Has figured out the portal and NIL more than almost any other coach and used them to his advantage.
SO after looking at the pros and cons, is he worth being the highest paid coach in college football?

No
If Florida and Ole Miss have the same offer on the table as LSU, per dandy don, he is staying at Ole Miss.

I hope I eat these words but I feel like we're getting all caught up in the moment. Sure I wouldn't mind trying Lane Kiffin but do we really have to go all batshit to get him? Do we have to make him the highest paid coach and go so nuts about it, wrapping ourselves in another crazy contract? Second off, Lane tells the media to "frick off" a lot more than I think this fanbase is ready to hear. I enjoy that kind of stuff but can the majority of yall?
I hope it ends with championships but can't you also see it ending in calamitous disaster at the same time? I'm excited just as much as the next guy but we just saw what the hottest names in coaching get you. You're getting OM Lane but you're also getting Raiders Lane, Tennessee Lane and USC Lane.

Success in Baton Rouge has a way of eating at people. Look at Les, look at O. Look at your friends who've done well in business. I don't know what goes on in the upper echelons of BR society that gives people a sense they can do whatever they want and encourage them to test the limits.
Lane will fall into the success trap here if he wins a playoff game.
Expectations will be super high once Lane walks in the door. Same expectations as BK - Natty by year 3. If this doesn't happen we're looking at the same buyout. It could get extra ugly with Lane's mouth.

Why didn't BAMA go after Kiffin when Saban retired?

Skullhawk for the win. Lane could have put up more points with the U-high squad.

Decent offense
Ole Miss total offense rankings the past six seasons
2025 - 8
2024 - 1
2023 - 7
2022 - 12
2021 - 6
2020 - 22
You hire Kiffin and one side of the ball is elite for his tenure.

It is somewhat exciting to think about Kiffin and the talent that could come to LSU and what he could do with it offensively.
A personally wish the committee would’ve focused all this attention on getting Dillingham. I’ve said and I standby it, with the right program like LSU, I believe this guy could have the tigers at the top of the SEC.
I believe Lane is too much of a gamble!.

He’s playing for a natty best team in history at ole piss hope we have a backup plan lane will not be at LSU this fall other than to play LSU

My belief is he stays at OM. I think he’s not decided yet and over next week and after they beat the crap out of Moo st, he’s gonna be pumped to stay.

Definitely a chew you up and spit you out type of culture. It could end ugly. And is a gamble for not only LSU but for whoever coaches here. It’s this way at a lot of programs. As much as like Lane, i wish we could get an up and coming coach that doesn't need a monster contract and doesn't have all the baggage.

Why do people glazing Kiffin’s Ole Miss resume conveniently forget that Hugh Freeze had them #1 in the nation and beat peak Nick Saban’s Bama teams.
It’s not impossible to win games at Ole Miss. Auburn just fired a coach that managed it in an era of not being able to pay players

Keep your eye on Carson Palmer at Rancho Santa Margarita high school. It’s his first year as a HC and he is terrific. He knows wtf he’s doing. Organized, disciplined, power… Also, his brother Jordan is one of the best QB coaches in the country…
He’s probably southern cal bound at some point. He’s a guy that strikes fear from the sideline. Massive presence and you’re not going to outwit him.
Feel free to throw empties, but I think his HC career path may look like a hockey stick.
Give him the same talent as kiffin and he’d knock kiff’s balls in.
