I thought Zion was waiting for Willie to leave and then he'd "turn it on"

To be fair to him, push the hamstring and he's done for the year.

The issue is his game is all hamstring and not low impact finesse.

That being said - rebuild his image and ship him off for anything. It's time to move on

My point was that there were a few people on this board saying that Zion wasn't really injured, he was silently protesting Willie.

But the truth is with his body type and his play style, he was always gonna flame out.

Best thing for everyone, for sure is that Zion does turn it on, stays healthy and provides 20,5, and 5 that he should be able to do in his sleep. Problem will be then Pels will want to give him another shot

Its really in his best interest to learn to be a complementary piece at times and rethink his game. Everyone talks about his lack of shooting anything outside of 12' but near as important is that he needs to be able to run the court. Pet peave of mine is that he won't run (conditioning?) unless he is leading the transition. He should have always been feasting as a finisher (either on the wing or as a trailer) with less physical pounding on his body.

He used to. He was out running guards when he was fat and that was consistent at some points, he just trails behind right now and it's mind boggling.

Last season in a wasted year he was doing that shite every possession, though as a team they were awful at fast break, hep got oops every night. Pawful throws from CJ and all.

Idk what's going on right now. His first step looks slower, he's not getting low on drives as he usually does even in his worse shape. I honestly don't know wtf is going on.

Either he's checked out completely or he lost hella athleticism in the off season

Just my observation, he may have lost weight but his conditioning has not markedly improved. When he has the ball in his hands, he is somewhat motivated in transition but when he doesn't, he loafs. Again, if he just runs the floor he is an easy 20, 5, and 5. He may be trying to figure out his ideal weight, but regardless his conditioning has to improve. I believe a lot of teams have their eyes on Zion and one of the things they are looking at is will he engage when he is not option 1.

He looks completely checked out and apathetic. He looks like he’s doing the bare minimum to fulfill his contract.

Zion is 25 with a ton of lower body injuries. this is the age when peak athleticism begins to slowly decline
at least Zion still has skill and touch to fall back on though

He usually starts the year slowly and is running fast and jumping high by mid December.

Most years he was available at the start of the year he wasn't getting 25ppg in Oct/Nov. Usually around 20-22. By Dec/Jan he's usually back to his 26+ on 58%+.

Play calling was always an issue and seems to still be one. Running the offense thru BI to start the year, switching up to point Zion by December, and the team playing much better afterwards.

Dude is still fast asf and still jumps high asf but right now his change of direction and agility with the ball hasn't looked as good as usual.

Time will tell but at this point I think he's glad the team has Fears and Queen, will help them develop because he's still guarded by 4 people every possession, and probably request a trade after the year is over. He seems too content with not getting shots and thatx not usually the case.

He's been coming off picks with a lane to drive and he will pass the ball to the youngins. I can respect if he has no problem giving them the keys and not being mad about his possessions. I think he wants out but not in a controversial way.

But God dammit will the coach tell his arse to spot up and take some frickin 3's. He will set a pick and if there is no lane to roll he will hover around the circle behind the FT line. Bro, stand at the top of the key or the elbow 3 area and call for the ball. Take some of them bitches.

Z has never been a bad 3 point shooter, he just never puts himself in position to get a wide open spot up. The defense leaves him completely open at the top of the key after he sets a pick, why is no coach on the staff forcing him to stay the frick there and take open 3's.

Focus on what I'm saying tonight and watch how open he is off the ball around the top of the key. If the damn coaches ain't forcing him to use that sag off to his advantage then maybe Borrego ain't got the mentality to implement it.

I don't see how they don't notice this while watching game film. He's been taking more pill ups and he hits those at a good percentage, but will not do it again if he misses the first one.

He gotta be coached out of that. If defenders are sagging off and packing the paint, and you never take advantage of it, the coach has to beat it into his head.

I don't think he's taken a single 3 this season smh

That's my biggest frustration (other than injuries). His first game he hit 4 straight 3s. Even if he only hits 28-32%, at least it will soften the wall he gets on every drive. I want him to take 1-2 a game.
