Explain the psychology of wanting to be THE poster to break the news

Feel like we have an absurd amount of guys here who want to the guy to break the news from their source
Think we've had around a dozen variations of the "It's Done. My guy is telling me.." thread
What's the thought process behind these guys? Self-importance? Narcissism?

Is it euphoric to watch your thread fly to multiple pages?

Same reason we have “social media influencers” now.

That would be fine if they had any news to break.
Most of them are either making stuff up or reporting rumors that turn out to be false.

Because you go down in TD lore! Where were you when touchdownjeebus broke the news and rummy confirmed his sources?

The psychology: They just want the rush of being the guy who “called it first” (fingers crossed they're right). Anonymity + thousands of people instantly hyping you up = massive dopamine hit and a quick ego boost. Most of it’s total BS, but for a few hours they get to feel like the most connected, important poster on the board. Classic attention-seeking/narcissistic behavior. Also, it's something they can brag about among friends, think: "You know that handle 'soandso' on TD? Yeah that's me!" No way bro FR you are the shite!
