You think this week is to give Ole Miss another week to try and keep him? It's Ole Miss's way of trying to make sure that they give themselves the best chance of winning the Egg Bowl. Lane calls many of the plays, so he's kind of important to their ability to win.
The announcement of the new head coach at LSU was never going to happen until after the end of the regular season. Every major candidate we are going after is still coaching his team for another game or two. The best you can hope for is exactly what has happened. You have leaks that suggest Kiffin to LSU is picking up steam and you get no announcement that an extension has been signed (which tells you he is out).
Now we wait a week and see what Ole Miss, Florida, and LSU do. I expect all 3 will be looking at other candidates and waiting on the announcement next Saturday.
Just relax and hang on.

The sure indication was when they did not announce the contract extension was signed.
They are allowing him to coach the Egg Bowl, and that's all she wrote!

There is not a AD in the country would start looking for a coach while the coach that they will be replacing is still coaching that team. The only way that would happen would be the coach that they have now is retiring
