Lufthansa Business Class

Any of you ever flown in Business Class on Lufthansa to Germany? I've seen mixed reviews about it.
TIA

Yes, many times. The Business Class cabin on a lot of their planes is the terrible 2-2-2 setup where you may have to crawl over someone. Check that seating chart and do your resarch. They also have a "First" class which is better and more like United Polaris.
The service is better, flight attendants more attractive, and better booze selection. The food is very hit or miss.

I've been in their Biz on the 747-800 and the A380. I always book aisles, but considering most of my travel was in coach, it was fine. The gay flight attendants were pretty attentive when I wasn't with my ex wife. Food was hit or miss as mentioned, but since I was spoiled on Turkish food, everything on any airline was meh.
LH 1st class seemed to only differ in that there was a rose at each seat, and I think it was 1-1 or 1-1-1 instead of 2-2-2. Didn't seem all that different.
It's a solid choice, and LH is my go to if I'm flying to most of Europe. TK is the choice for SE Europe and the ME. Especially if you are sticking to *A, you don't have a lot of attractive options. TAP sounds more middling than LH, although I've never flown it. Air Canada is a giant F-NO. The Toronto lounge feels like a third world country, and they had the oldest equipment I'd been on as an adult, and the absolute surliest FAs I've encountered on any airline. One flight to Rome and I never flew that garbage again.

Check the aircraft on your specific flight. If it’s the Boeing 747 you’ll most likely be in a 2-2-2 configuration. It’s easily the worst business class set up on all the airlines I’ve flown on.
That being said, it wasn’t “that bad”. But if I was using my own money (the three times I flew them it was work trip) I would have been disappointed.
Drinks and food options were solid. Service was great.

The best thing about LH business class is access to their lounges. The food was amazing, and free top shelf bar that has no bartender. You walk up and make your own drinks. First time I experienced it I was blown away. Had a blast in there for several hours.

Outside the US, that is the norm. We're the weird ones. SFO doesn't serve doubles because of law, but will give you a sidecar with the second shot in it with your drink. Cause that's clearly accomplishing something.
I spent 12 hours in the senator lounge in FRA on the way to JNB, and the food was normal business class lounge food (but German, obv.) Very German in nature which was fine, but 100% destroyed by the TK lounge in IST. Unfair comparison, I know.
Make note OP, you may not have access to most LH lounges unless your connecting flight out of FRA/MUC is also "business" (which in reality is the Spirit Big Front Seat with the middle seat blocked). It shouldn't be a blocker if you're "biz" the entire way through.

Lufthansa isn't even in the top half of Business Class products across the Atlantic. Unless you can get a flight on one of the 787s.

Assuming OP is in Louisiana, this involves connections in EWR, ATL, IAH, ORD, or God forbid, JFK. I'm guessing because he mentioned LH, his most convenient route is through IAH. Besides, the 747 is still the queen of the skies.
Point being, it's not that bad in LH. It's not PIA. Well, unless the flight is continuing onto India through FRA, then it's trash(y).

That may be the case, but there are plenty of good options on other carriers. I'd rather fly DL through ATL (or even better, JFK) and then go with Air France/KLM across the pond.
Also, couldn't help but laugh at the poster who was raving about the quality of the LH lounges stateside.

I flew LH business on my way to Oktoberfest last month, and the LH lounge at IAD was rough. I mean rough. In their defense, it was the last day before they were to begin renovations. I anticipate it will be nicer in about a year when they finish, but even before last month, it was in rough shape and not competitive with the other lounges in Dulles.
And to pile on, if you're flying solo, LH A380 with the 2-2-2 layout is not competitive. Get a middle seat. Flying with your spouce, it's not so bad, but still not competitive.
I'm heading to London tomorrow and unfortunately British Airways just did a plane swap from the new A350s to the older 787-9, so we just went from a 2-1-2 with doors to the dreaded 2-3-2 layout, but even on this plane, unless you're in the middle three seats, you don't have to worry about climbing over anyone.

I thought BA had finished the Club Suite retrofits for all of its 787s

Every single time.
They got a mafia now that controls first and business class across all carriers.

I am in Baton Rouge but would fly out of MSY to MUC which is why I was looking at Lufthansa plus their business class is within my price range.
Posted on 11/18/25 at 3:44 pm to Bryno1960
I'm not seeing direct MSY to MUC flights on MSY's page, nor on Lufthansa. What day are you flying out? I'm just looking at random dates and can't see it.

I would have to connect in either ORD or Newark. Looking at Dec 2 to meet friends there and visit several Christmas markets.

So did I. But my seat map says something different

It looks like both of those are on an A350 with new Allegris seats, you should be grand. I'd normally advise not connecting through NYC or ORD during the winter (or ever.)
ETA: And BA... No. Never. No. Their IT and Terminal 5 issues notwithstanding, a Brit friend flies over family members a couple of times a year, and has not had one positive thing to say about that airline in over a decade.

Surprisingly, the best beef I've ever had on a plane was on a BA flight between London and Houston a few years back.
