Are the Carolina Panthers a contender or pretender?

Bryce Young threw for 448 yards (team record) after completely shitting the bed last week and the defense shut down the Falcons in the second half after a woeful first half.
This team is Jekyll & Hyde - they'll go beat one of the best teams in the NFC (Packers) then turn around and lose to the Saints.
The upcoming schedule is a gauntlet, but the Panthers somehow eek out wins against top tier teams.
I've been a fan of this team for 23 years and never have I been as confused as I am with this 2025 team.

Nobody that loses at home to the Aints is a contender.

They're basically the Bears, but with 1 win over a team with a winning record (GB) as opposed to 0
Wins
6-3-1 (by 3)
4-7 (by 3)
3-5-1 (by 3)
3-7 (by 3)
3-7 (by 30, lol falcons)
2-8 (by 7)
Losses
9-2 (by 29)
7-3 (by 31)
6-4 (by 16)
3-7 (by 5, the horrific collapse to ARI)
2-8 (by 10, embarrassing home loss to NO)
Squeaking out wins against bad teams and getting dismantled by the good teams is the definition of a pretender
Their final six games will make this blatantly obvious
@SF
LAR
@NO (the one team they should be favored against, but who's already beaten them)

I mean they are a playoff contender, certainly not a Super Bowl contender. You just can't be a Super Bowl contender with Bryce Young at QB. I like Bryce Young, but there's no way he's winning big playoff games.
They need to go 2-1 over their next three to have a shot. Because like you say, that final stretch is tough.

They’ve out kicked their coverage this year with their win loss record so they are a pretender right now. Another good offseason and they can be a contender. Depending on how they finish, Canales should be the run away COTY. Will most likely go to Vrabel though.

That was a good win at Green Bay. I mean that's never an easy place to go up there and win.
But I'm not even really sure what to make of the Packers.
I would say losing to the Saints at home by ten tells me that they're a pretender. I'm not trying to be a smart-arse either. I'm a Saints fan.

And still have 4 more wins than the Aints too. Y’all are legit the worst team in the NFC. At least the Giants lost their QB, RB, and WR. Y’all were arse coming out the game and are still arse lol

Them and the Bears are going to hit reality hard here over the final stretch of the season. Niners and Lions will be taking the final spots in the playoffs.

Can’t hear you, Tyler Shough just dropped his nuts on your face again

Was that before or after he renewed his AARP membership and took his 8th loss of the year?

The Saints 2nd round rookie out dueled the guy you mortgaged your future for. Enjoy 7-8 wins and no playoffs.

Panthers are arse. They've played an easy schedule.

One game off the division lead. Contender for the South.
Not going anywhere near the Super Bowl.

Only thing I will say is that Bryce may have really turned a corner in this game. The proverbial "light" may have gone off in his head.
The Falcons were allowing the least amount of passing yards per game in the NFL before Sunday, and after Bryce destroyed them they dropped down to 6. That is impressive. If he builds off this performance and keeps slinging it like that, they can definitely make the playoffs.

He was averaging 121 passing yards the previous 3 games. He hadn't passed for over 200 yards since week 2. The Falcons are just arse.
