I’m super impressed with Kelvin Sheppard’s defense. Play sticky man coverage and do a great job containing a qb that can hurt you with his legs. His defense also stifled Lamar Jackson’s legs this year. Kiffin and Dillingham my top 2 but if we can’t get either , I would be very open to giving Sheppard a shot if we bring in an innovative OC

Nah. He’s better off in the NFL. First year DC by the way maybe let him get some real experience before elevating him to Head Coach level

I’m sure a guy that was a multiple year starter here and won a natty for the university understands what it means to be a Tiger

I’m not tryna to go down rhe “ he’s one of us” path. With that said, look at the amount of programs having success with being lead by coaches who went or played at that school. Key at tech, Kirby at GA, brohm at Louisville , Dillingham at ASU, Cristobal at Miami. You are at least guaranteed a coach that will give it their all and maximum effort two things Brian Kelly didn’t do

In the last 3 seasons, he has:

-
quote:

28 wins, 9th most in P4
-19 home wins, 3rd most in P4
-14 SEC wins
-11 wins vs = .500 teams
-5 wins vs Top 25 teams
-3 wins vs Top 15 teams
-22-0 record when favored

But who needs that when you can have a guy that has been a coach for 4 whole years. He’s one of us!!!1

Look at the dog shite schedules he’s had to accomplish this numbers. He’s 0-3 agaisnt ranked teams this year and 0-3 last year the man doesn’t win big games. We just got rid of Brian Kelly for failing to get us over the hump drinkwitz is even worse

And your delusional and ignoring my main point: we just fired a coach who want 34-14 over his 4 years here becusse he failed to win big time matchups. Why on earth would we take a chance on another head coach with a flat out poor record against big time opponents? How the hell does that make any sense

I’m thrilled Sheppard has seized his opportunity with immediate success, but a lot of coordinators have a good season or two before getting figured out by the rest of the league. Sustained success is what separates the great from the good, and that’s something that remains to be seen.

Furthermore, the college game is a completely different beast, one that you should have tremendous appreciation for, and experience in, before taking a job like the LSU one.

If Sheppard wasn’t a Tiger, we wouldn’t be having this conversation at all, and that should tell you everything you need to know.

Shep has 5 years total of coaching experience.

He’s not a candidate.

And just 9 games (make that 10 tonight) as DC.
