A QB transfer would be nice but we dont really NEED one to start.

With Hurley gone we should just grab a decent one for depth and let MVB have the wheel.
Obviously we dont know what the new coach will do. But the biggest concern is the damn O line. Will need about 3 starters from the portal to fix that hot mess.
Next years RB room has breakout potential. If LSU shores up the line , its a playoff team.
The right coach would take MVB and make him great. He has every tool.

MVB is not winning you a title.

I like MVB and would like to retain him, but they need to pursue a starting caliber guy. If MVB beats him out, that'd signify a massive jump

If Kiffin’s the guy, you let him make that decision. I 100% trust Kiffin when it comes to identifying QB transfers. His last 2 were pretty damn good.

Trinidad Chambliss is a 5th year senior who is a good story. He's also not going to win Kiffin a title.
Year 3 MVB is not winning you a title. You go get JKS, Mestemaker, etc. Those guys can win you a title.

Hurley's gone. Nussmeier's gone. Van Buren, if he stays, is the only scholarship QB.
You get 2 out of the portal no matter what. If MVB enters the portal, you get 3.

If Lindsey comes back and Kaleb Jackson, who I can see going to the portal, I believe that gets us to 5 with Berry, Durham and Johnson. However, I understand not counting Lindsey or Jackson right now

We have no one committed now and no one else in the pipeline so the portal would be the only choice. I’d look at a couple for depth.
