These guys are always in a good moo, so they have great karma and good shite happens to them which always makes me smile. Beautiful islands, incredible nice beaches and people that has been forgotten by the world. Which to me makes it’s so much better. If they have decent fishing, definitely on my list now.

Saipan was the island that the US Marines faced the largest Japanese banzai attack of the war. Marpi point or the suicide cliff was where Japanese civilians jumped to their death in droves. Very sad

Im a resident of Rota. I live on Guam

We got nothing here.

Saipan is a mess. All of these islands are a mess. The amount of corruption is wild. Google. Saipan and China.

Guam needs to have a federal audit. Ill bet my life savings we getting had we getting robbed by some of the laziest people on the planet

Actually the Federal government needs to send someone with a calculator and handcuffs

Are you worried that there are gonna be so many people there that it will tip over?

Went after a typhoon hit it a while back. It was a mess but from what I heard from my local employees it was only slightly worse than usual.

This banzai charge actually hit positions held by the US Army’s 27th Infantry Division.

A guy I knew was appointed special prosecutor for Saipan/Northern Mariana Islands about 2 years ago. He’s very outspoken about everything on Facebook so he gave a play by play of his time there , wisely or not He basically was sabotaged the second he stepped foot on the island , at least according to his account, and got nowhere trying to prosecute the local governor or whatever for egregious corruption like you said. Also to your point he is constantly sounding the alarm about chinas influence in the pacific.it sounds like these are American territories in name only.

Its wouldn't be the worst thing to happen

Just this week so far 2 restaurant and the Westin closed for roaches. LT governor's family got new chargers from the Feds, 42% of the island got thier foodstamps back. And we have been cleared of cancer in the northern water well. Its definitely not on the clean or clear.

The US doesn't get a good value for Guam or the surrounding islands

That was a pretty big story for a while. The governor is in knee deep with the Chinese. They buildt a massive beautiful casino right in the center of town. They didn't even get it finished before it was shut down for money laundering

Back in 1998, I took a little solo trip to Saipan. Stayed at a small hotel in Garapan. While sitting on the balcony, I noticed a little store across the street with a massage parlor upstairs. Didn’t think much about it.

Rented a car and drove all over the island. Had a great time.

A week later back home, I flipped on one of those 20/20 - 60 Minutes shows. They were doing a special on the sweatshops in Saipan where they put the ‘Made in the USA’ on the KMart clothes. A big scandal at the time, these poor Chinese people were working in horrible conditions for little pay.

Then, at the end of the show, they put a hidden camera on a guy to check out the human smuggling sex trade going on in Saipan. Would you believe, they went into the massage parlor across the street from the hotel!!!

What are the odds of staying at a hole in the wall hotel in the middle of the Pacific and then seeing it a week later on TV at home. Small world.
