If LSU can't land Kiffin, would be better off taking a chance with a young up and coming coach like Eric Morris than paying out the arse to settle for a name hire with Riley.
He's a winy bitch, always full of excuses, and his teams are soft. He shunned LSU last time because he was scared of the SEC. He's underperformed and not done shite at USC with all their resources. If he can't cut it there, he'll get eaten alive in the SEC. frick him and his brisket.

If nothing else Morris wouldn't command a huge price tag so he could have a prove it type of deal that would be easy to move on from if it doesn't work or earn a raise/extension if he hits. At the very least you know his offenses are going to shine especially with the skill guys in Louisiana and his existing Texas inroads, he just needs to nail the DC hire.
He's a cheaper, lower risk Riley that imo has a chance of being a higher ceiling than Riley who's already a known commodity at this point. I'd rather take the gamble on Morris before considering Riley, but that's just me.

Morris makes 1.4 million a year at North Texas. You could pay him 4 or 5 million with almost no buyout. If it doesn’t work out you could send him away in a couple of years.

I know nothing about Morris = but this is the approach I would like to see - find a young and hungry coach who has shown creativity & sound approach and give him a short term contract to prove he can take it to the SEC.

He’s a winner. Has proven it. Is a QB guru. And has played west coast football his whole life. He would be a home run hire but is not even on the market.
