Do they get a bump in pay?

Hmm. Good question. Maybe put in initial contract in case it happens?

Frank Wilson pays them for the honor of coaching LSU.

They should have given the interim to Blake Baker. He's going to be a head coach somewhere someday. Let him cut his teeth in a throw away season and if he does well, give him a shot. Pay him low with big incentives

Frank was the right choice. Similar in 2016 with Ed O being chosen over Aranda. In their roles, they are more accessible leaving the defensive coordinator to continue running their program

Why? I'm hoping we can all agree this is a throw away season at this point.

The down votes I got shows that the fan base wants a "proved" head coach.

Great.

What head coach didn't start out as an assistant?

Blake baker was a great get and might be gone after this season. I really hope not, but realistically, he'll be gone. He's coach O with intelligence. Why not give him the chance to prove it?

He seems to like the college game, unlike a Joe Brady type who might be a great head coach, but hated the college game.

I realize this is a message board and we’re all experts, but apparently there’s more to it. Wins & losses are chicken shite compared to recruiting and Frank Wilson is the guy to hold that together. Having your DC keep dominating is part of it also

The press, coverage and symbolism is a positive for the institution. He’s a good guy who loves this place and he was already assistant HC.

Frank was the AHC, I think, with head coaching experience, so it made sense to make him the interim.

Why does this keep getting repeated to adnauseam?

Let me get this straight if you worked for an employer who has a reputation of paying top of market wage rates and you're offered the job to replace your boss who was making 4x your salary. Are you really going accept the position for way less with the promise of high bonuses to get to where your bosses salary is? Or will you negotiate a much higher guaranteed salary? Knowing that if you max out your KPIs you will become the highest paid coach in college football. Also knowing a much lower guranteed salary makes it easier for them to replace you.
