. . . And conversely, if he's not?

For tRant, first play from scrimmage. If it's not a TD, he's a bum.

The first game of the season.

If the team is well prepared, fundamentally sound, they play very physical, and the coach manages the clock appropriately then we have a winner.

If the team looks unprepared, not inspired, sloppy, and soft. We are fricked (see Brian Kelly’s first games of the season in years 1-3).

After your first loss, how he speaks, who he throws under the buss, and what the plan is moving forward

It’s kinda a two part thing to me. After the loss. What adjustments and changes were made to correct the problem as well. Does he adjust?

When I see
-Aggressive/effective run blocking
-Red zone scoring
-open door policy for alumni players
-clock management
-Hitting at practice
-Running the ball
-has a special teams coach
-coaches on the sidelines
-Wins
etc.

Here’s my criteria
#1 he cannot lose to a newly hired HC or one with less experience
#2 getting blown out is a huge red flag
#3 bad QB play for more than 1 season
#4 if no big jump in improvement by ending of 2nd season then you know it’s gonna fail
Of course sissy stuff like slamming tables and crappy dancing you know there’s something wrong

If we can run the football, pass it down the field and defend effectively against running quarterbacks

3 years to make the playoffs and playoffs should happen at least once every two years after. Just like BK, no playoffs the first four years and goodbye.

Next years schedule includes Clemson, Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Miss State and Auburn, Kentucky and Arkansas.

Pretty tough row for the new guy.

If his defense gives up a point put him on the hot seat. If we are trailing in a game get a shortlist of replacements. If he loses a game fire him and ban him and his kids from ever entering the state of Louisiana.

Maybe we could pay 11 million for Drinkwitz and pay him like a top 5 coach with a huge buyout. I’m ok with paying for an up and comer type coach but don’t pay Drinkwitz like he is Ryan Day, lol.
