Looking at getting a smoke tube for my pit boss pellet grill. Anyone have any recommendations? Also any other accessories anyone likes for their pellet grills?

I picked up one on Amazon but it's not a tube. It is a rectangular maze with an open top that has channels to load the wood pellets into.

You light one end and it will burn for 5 hours at a time. I think I paid under $25 for it a couple years ago.

I love it for when I do cold smoking salmon or cheese. It generates almost no heat as the pellets burn and it gives off a lot of smoke.

I highly endorse the tube. i have a Traeger and it made a huge difference. i finally got pretty decent at brisket (i would never say i am good at it, but decent) and it improved the flavor dramatically.

Genuine question:

I’ve been considering adding a pellet grill for ease of smoking when feeling lazy. Why would you need a smoke tube added to a pellet grill? Is the smoke generated not enough?

I’ve never seen this discussed.

Thanks

In general it doesn’t put out as much smoke as some of the other options. Also it allows you to do cold smoke with cheeses and other stuff.

Amazon has these on sale for $18 for 2 of them. I bought a set a couple months ago. Sturdy built out of stainless and puts off good smoke.

I had that one for my GMG and it worked well. You need a torch to get it lit though.

When I first got my Traeger, I was genuinely confused too. How was it both a grill and smoker? The answer is that the more expensive models have a "super smoke" feature. Mine doesn't, but it will certainly have a "smokey" flavor but nothing like my little electric smoker does.

I found that my smoke tube that I bought on Amazon enhances the smoke flavor. And bonus that I had to by a small torch to light the pellets in the tube since playing with any type of fire is fun.

I use mine mainly for smoking chicken. Brisket and other meats that take more than four hours get enough smoke without it I have found.
