You can agree, or continue in your determination to be wrong.

Otis was a fantastic songwriter and had great vocal chops. he weren't no Sam Cooke though singing.

Love this song. This one and A Change Is Gonna Come really show his talent.

Much more interesting than boring Sam

That’s just a ridiculous statement. Maybe for you he is.
He is definitely one of the most significant and enduring vocalist and songwriters of that time.

John Lennon
Elvis
Paul McCartney
...in that order

he makes more than a few wrong choices in phrasing. and of course he has very limited technical range
I don't hate him. I just find him overrated, partly due to his early death

This isn't even a stretch really. Really not even debatable that he is at least top 5.
I tend to lean towards soul singers when I think of best voices ever in general.
Sam Cooke
Ben E. King/Drifters
Smokey Robinson
David Ruffin/Temptations
Marvin Gaye
I personally am a big fan of Otis Redding, sentimental value as well since him and Elvis were my moms favorite, but I can see where some wouldn't put him at the top. It's a different voice. Same for Smokey Robinson.

Love Sam, but for me, the best voice has always been David Ruffin
