Worth a crap in the BR area? Performance? Have to have separate streaming device (fire sick, etc) for it to work efficiently?

Bailing on YTTV. Thx!

I liked the lay out better but at one point they were in squabbles with a lot of the BR affiliates so I bailed for YouTube

Only other issueS was the dvr was pretty limited without having to pay extra vs YTTV and the app isn’t always available on various smart TV operating systems

I'm doing the free trial bc of the YTTV/ESPN mess - haven't used it a lot, but the image quality seems better to me

Image quality seems better to me as well. YTTV still has the best UI.

You get unlimited DVR so I am not sure where you are seeing this. Also, if you go out and read reviews most people agree that the picture quality is better due to the bitrates being higher for DirecTV and also YTTV will downscale channels to 720p at times.

People knock it for the price against YTTV base package, but you get more out of it. Unlimited streams within your household and up to three outside. 4K is included. Also, if you have a Gemini device then ESPN Unlimited along with Disney+ and Hulu (with ads) is included. Plus, it offers more regional sports packages if you are into that. Most of these are add-ons for YTTV.

You just need to determine if that is something you want right off the bat or if the base YYTV package is enough.

Works great on my rokutv and firetv. It works like arse on my samsung tv. I think samsungs "smart" interface is trash and slow as frick.

then I'm guessing that changed since I switched, but you used to have to pay extra for unlimited

yeah, its gotten a lot better over the years. The UI and guide I really like. They also have the recent 10 channel you can jump back in. Plus they added quad box in Sept

another thing is the integrate the streaming services in the guide. Ex- netflix is channel 201, Disney plus 203, ESPN plus 204, etc.

they are a little more than others, but they give you a lot. Right now, you get ESPN Unlimited, Hulu and Disney Plus with ads, and Peacock premium free for life with sign up.

i still prefer a guide to see whats coming on.

NBC is not available on this service, so you'll have to buy Hulu and/or Peacock.

It’s awful on my Vizio as well

I don’t think they mesh well with smart TVs that aren’t Roku/FireTV

It’s fine on my Apple TV and Fire TV

DTV hasn't had the NBC affiliate in Baton Rouge for about 3 years now.

You can choose to watch DIRECTV via app only/smart tv or get a Gemini box.

I think everything is free with just the app
