lol there’s literally a 0% chance he goes to lsu. He didn’t even leave Oregon for bama. It’s the best job in the country.

Trying not to be too reactionary but Will Stein won me over today

I think Oregon is arguably the best job in the country. Unlimited resources, powerful national brand, easy recruiting, not a lot of pressure (they’ve never won a natty).

I can see why he wouldn’t leave at the time for Bama. I’ve said it a lot in conversations…following the greatest college coach to date is a tough spot. Everything you do is compared to The Saban. If you lose it amplifies.

I’m from Baton Rouge. If I had a chance to be a millionaire in Oregon or to be a millionaire in Baton Rouge. I’m taking Oregon 1000/1000 times.

I'm all in on Lanning. I don't think he leaves Oregon though. The only upgrade for leaving Oregon is getting away from the people in Oregon, they are bat shite crazy. But if he's ok with them, there's no logical reason to go somewhere with more pressure and equal resources at best.

Lanning who almost lost to Iowa?

No one can compete with Nike $$$

You probably shouldn’t of been born here anyway cause your values aren’t what they should be if that’s a place you wanna live

Doesn't he have Nike stock that isn't vested yet? So he just gonna leave 100 million dollars on the table plus whatever Oregon is paying so he can take a higher pressure, higher competition job that pays less?

He was a high school coach 6 years ago. Not sure you want to go from one extreme to another

Do you want a young coach or not? Bc if you go young up and coming then 3 years as an OC at Oregon is about as good as it gets. Under 40 with 5 years of HC experience isn't gonna be found

Younger than Kelly, but not just out of college. Like I said, before this stint at Oregon as a play caller, he doesn’t have much of a resume at all

Why would LSU want to hire a coach who cannot beat Kalen Deboer?
Posted on 11/8/25 at 8:44 pm to Yeti_Chaser
BTW, I’d look at a few others who are around his age or a little older who’ve learned under other big coaches and then had some success on their own of which there are a few

It's not much different from Brian Hartline. I admittedly don't know a ton about Stein. The only Oregon games I've watched this year were the end of Penn State and the Iowa game today. I was just impressed with what I saw from him today. It wasn't the Oregon we're used to seeing

I getcha. There’s some late 30’s to 40’s coached who’ve done more. Some are now head coaches at G5’s, like Eric Morris at UNT and he was an OC before. Only 40 years old.
I don’t really want a coordinator who hasn’t been one for very long, especially making that big jump into a major head coaching job. If he’s familiar with the program, it’s a little different (see Kirby Smart and some others).
