He’s been in the league for 5 years and has yet to develop a jump shot.

If he was a serious professional he would have spent time shooting, if he can develop that why do we think he would take time to stay in shape.

Even with all of his injuries guess what, he still could go in a gym and shoot a basketball 1000 shots a day.

You know who was not as athletic but had a 3x better career than Zion, PJ Brown shot everyday was deadly from the elbow same with David West. True pros that put time and effort into there careers yet we keep paying Zion because he can do cool dunks twice a year.

Trade him

It is time, while he has any value at all. Can not build around him, not and Alpha. Who has draft picks we would want ?

I think he has developed a jump shot. The thing is he is only going to use every 3-5 games. He’s too stubborn to actually include it in his shot diet.

I agree. But for what? He has little to no value. Also everyone in the league is almost capped out. We'd have to take back a lot of salary to make it work. I don't want a bunch of cast-offs, or bad long term deals just to get him off the team.

The best time is in the offseason, when teams have cap space and we can do imbalanced trades. But we would have not got much this past offseason, which is why they considered cutting him (not seriously though).

Our best hope is that we get a new coach, that lights a fire under Zion. He finishes the year semi-strong and builds up some value. He'll want an extension, which gives us the cover to trade him without judgement or tanking his value. I could see a team like Brooklyn coming off a couple young players and a conditional pick or two. That's best case scenario..

I loved them but they didn’t have 3x better careers… they were role players

I’d take Naji and a first to be done with Zion

David West was not a role player, and yes Zion trajectory they both will end up having 3x better careers I do not see Zion stayin in shape past the age of 30. Even if he does he athleticism which is his biggest strength will diminish.

no. Hew hasn't developed a jump shot b/c he can't shoot. He's just not good at it. Just watch him shoot free throws. It's like he can't even follow through correctly. It always looks wonky. His fingers are hardly ever finishing pointing at the rim.

His biggest fault is 100% his fitness, which still isnt' where it needs to be despite looking the best physically since college.
He's too lazy to realize that if he'd grab rebounds and just race down the court, he's close to unstoppable. It's something we've watched Lebron do for 20 years, and Giannis, and Westbrook, and so many more. Zion has gone coast to coast with a full head of steam like 3 or 4 times in his entire career, when he should be doing that several times a game.

He's in year 7, supposedly in shape finally, yet all you see him do is walk and lightly jog the entire game. I watch him play and literally think he's no different than my 40 year old fat arse playing basketball with other 40 year olds once a week where i might run once, maybe twice a night, and it's just a light jog/walk the vast majority of the game.

The dude is still fat and out of shape and i'm sick and tired of it. I shouldn't watch a professional athlete who's make $40m/yr be tired playing a basketball game, similar to how I look when I play my one time a week. Heavy breathing anytime he runs hard, the few times he does. Hands on his knees every single time free throws are being shot. Standing straight up on defense 95% of the time. He's still out of shape, and lazy as always. It's pathetic. His is 100% the laziest player in the nba, and i don't think there's another person in the conversation. No one else in the league walks and lightly jobs as much as he does. No one. B/c if they did, they'd probably not be in the NBA anymore.

I mean the dude averaged over 15pts I think 6 times in his career, averaged over 12pts 4 times without CP3.

I’m not saying he’s the GOAT but he was certainly more than a role player

It doesnt help zion that his coach for years basically has nothing to tell him other than play hard, play with force.

Bull, shaq couldn’t shoot free throws to save his life and he was one of the greatest. Every player will not be great at everything

And John Stockton made Karl Malone a hall of famer???

Yes David West was better b/c of CP3, but that doesnt' diminish the player David West was. It's not like anyone could have made an all-star team, twice, just b/c they were playing with CP3. You still have to be pretty damn good.

DWest shot 42% from 10-16' and 46% from 16'-3P with CP3.
After they split up he shot 45% from 10-16' and 49% from 16'-3P

I'd take elite role player DWest over Zion any day of the week.

Here's a fun fact:
David West played in 219 games in his last 3 seasons at age 35/36/37.
Zion has now played 219 games in his 7 year career.

So you did not love or watch David West. At the same career point as Zion, David West was a two time all star averaging like 20 and 8. Plus he was an alpha. I would trade Zion straight up prime NOH West. Those last 6 years he was in NO he was an absolute dog.

Yall are crazy for suggesting trading Zion for a random 1st, that does nothing for us. The Hawks are the team we would need to trade with so we would have control over the 1st we’re acquiring.

The hawks aren’t helping us out, nor should they.

If they get Zion in return, I think they would have to consider it. He needs to play with a guard like Trae to have success. But in my obviously biased opinion, if Fears gets that 3 point shot to go in at a high clip, he elevates Zion so much it’s worth keeping him around. I think Zion needs to be involved in way more action, catch the ball in advantageous spots. This team could be a good with a proper coach. Give us the Celtics coach and y'all would see. That’s a coach that elevates his players.

This is true, I just replied to the most recent post, wasn’t attacking you. Someone said Naji and a 1st but I wouldn’t see the purpose of acquiring a most likely playoff team’s 1st.
