There used to be a reverence for Tiger Stadium

I first set foot in TS in1968 at an LSU-OM freshman game. I was 6. There were some players from my school (small town 1-12 type school) that were freshmen on both squads so the whole school was allowed to go to the game. I just took it all in. This place is special.
My first Sat night game was in 1970. My uncle (deceased 2009) took my two brothers and me. He had four season tickets then. Still in our family but only two now. I was kid amazed at the spectacle. TS was a special place. I would later live in TS in the 80s (239 S. Stadium). It was a convenient hop to the Chem Engr bldg. Many fond memories of this special place.

What I write, I think thousands and generations of Tiger fans would echo, there was a reverence for TS.

And the turf at TS is almost sacred. You don’t paint “Venture Global” on it. That’s anathema. The soul of TS is not for sale. (If you want to understand the absurdity of this, would you let an Aggie or Longhorn booster pay us some astronomical amount to put Gig ‘em or Hook ‘em in the EZ? That’s turning TS into a harlot.)

TS is not just another stadium. It’s a special place. I hope our new AD and HC, whomever them may be, are fully cognizant of this.

I hate the advertising on the field/court. But I also know that in today’s world, it is inevitable. What really grinds my gears though is the execution. Why is everything oriented to the same side? Shouldn’t the logos be oriented to the sideline they are near?

Excellently put. I’m a year older than you and have a similar story, which also includes the Pistol.

The DJ techno music or wtf it’s called is bull shite. There’s some hallowed places that tradition should remain and ring true for the ages. My hope is that the new administration values tradition over popular trends.

Some people just think their opinion / facebook post is super important and people are dying to read it.

Its just not the case. No one gives a frick about your sentimental past times.

Because they need to be correctly oriented for TV.

Your story and experience is the same as mine, age and thoughts!

I agree 100%!

Oh my....those 'sentimental' moments are foundational to what you experience today.

Congrats on reaching your senior years. Life today is not what it was in your youth. Just as life in your youth wasn’t the same as your elders. It happens

I like the OP's message and sentiment, but we all know those days are pretty much over due to a plethora of reasons: conference expansion and diminishing rivalries, corporate influence on gameday experience, ticket and gameday prices squeezing the common folk out, horrendous piped in music, TV timeouts, HD TV in the comfort of home.

Would like to add that it was refreshing to hear bands playing between plays during a couple of games I watched this weekend. Maybe it was just where they intentionally set up the microphones, but I liked it nonetheless.

Meh. Yankee Stadium was torn down and they now play across the street.

They will be, but it’s still going to be Entergy Tiger Stadium one day.

I’m just glad I experienced the “real Tiger Stadium” in my lifetime.
It was special and unfortunately the younger folks won’t get to experience it.

Tiger Stadium is sacred ground. My first game in Tiger Stadium was in 1958 when the Tigers played Hardin-Simmons. I will never forget walking through the portal and seeing the field for the first time. I did not know that grass could be that green.

I agree with everything you wrote and hope that some day Tiger Stadium crowds will be as enthusiastic as they were back in the day. Hope springs eternal...........Geaux Tigers.
