LiveScope is something else!

Was positioned in about five feet of water fishing along a bank line and catching nothing. I saw a fish bust the top to my left which was out in deeper water. I turned the LS to the left and there were all kinds of little "footballs) along the bottom in twelve feet of water. I tossed my drop shot out there and bam! I proceeded to do that for about 30 minutes before dark. Probably caught or hooked fifteen fish. I think I'm getting better with LiveScope.
Catch and release only.

You must be a newbie. Why would have the technology and still be fishing the bank? Always look to open water first with scope. Especially this time of year when it All Shad all the time. We just never knew they stayed out there 75% of their lives. I’m not a fan of the technology for the pros but everyone else…. Knock themselves out.

All those years we all spent bank fishing while they were all feeding away behind us

Same in early spring. Fisherman rush to the bank the first few warm days of spring. The better bite is usually much deeper.

I am not a newbie. I've had LS for about four years. Used it a lot for crappie and finding brush piles. I have the LVS 34 transducer. I agree with everything else you said. I live on Lake Tyler. These two lakes are mostly without any interesting features. Creek beds are almost non inexistent. There is no timber and there is no aquatic grass except along the bank. When I bought the property there was thick hydrilla but the property owners wanted it eliminated. Fall is a funky time and the water is low so shallow areas can suck. I just was lucky enough to see that fish bust water. And when I scanned, I could see a bunch of bass. I know what they look like. But nomadic fish can be hard to find. I have the luxury of fishing every day if I want to. This time of year I tend to fish the afternoons.
Also, I was fishing a shallower area close to deeper water a few days ago. And there were clouds of shad in five feet of water. When I pushed out to 12 feet and scanned, there were also groups of bass underneath them. I've been stroking them pretty well the past few days.

Do you use a jighead minnow?

I've used a semi-deep diving balsa crank bait, drop shot rig using Chompers 4 inch garlic worms and a line through jig head with a Rapala Freeloader minnow. I drug the Freeloader along the bottom. The fish just banged the crank bait and I caught the most this Saturday with the drop shot. It varies is my answer. I could have used a jig head minnow. I have some but didn't need them. If I was fishing in deeper water they may have been useful.
I don't want a crank bait that makes a lot of noise. Hence the balsa.
As a bonus on the drop shot, you fish the 4 inch worms Texas rigged. When they get galled up, you just rig them Whacky and get two for the price of one.

If you want a mostly silent crankbait that works really well, check out the Blitz lineup from OSP lures. I’ve tried just about every crankbait out there and have found nothing better than these.
The models I’ve tried are the EX-DR, DR, Tiny DR, and Tiny MR. I’ve caught fish on all of them, but I’d get the DR if you’re going to just try one. I would be willing to bet they’ll outperform whatever you’re using. You wont find them at a reasonable price in the states, only Japan so you have to order them from a JDM website.
Good luck out there and glad to hear you’re catching them.

You have a link? I find it difficult to, well, to find that link.

Checking in to register my total disdain of livescope and lack of sportsmanship and just learning how to fish. Eventually there will be no fish left. People like you are killing the sport and the knowledge it takes to be good at it. It’s like a video game now. Until there is nothing left to catch. Solid work I guess?

Here’s the response that slaps. Another window licking idiot that just can’t imagine that some people like technology.
Tell me, do you use anything other than a willow branch or cane pole and a sharpened bird bone to fish with? Probably not. So keep youpiehole shut and go back to stabbing carp with a stick.

I’ve been bass fishing for 55 years. I’ve had LS for 3 years. I haven’t kept a bass to eat in decades.
I enjoy using LS in open water at certain times of the year. Other than that, I’ll be throwing conventional lures at structure.
It’s not like a typical bass fisherman gets on the lake and wears the bass out with LS. It’s a tool, and it’s not a guarantee. It shows every fish it’s pointing at. You’ve got to learn what is actually a bass, and even then, the fish might not bite, so your idea of “killing the sport” is BS.

I sure as hell hope you are using an atlatl when you deer or bird hunt.
Anything else would be unsporting....
