If He wins game 7 of WS as the starting pitcher, I envision this could be the game that cements his all time greatness.

did you mean cements...or do you think people will feel bad about him being an all-timer?

I hope your not his interpreter. No wonder he lost money.

Can grown adults ban GOAT arguments like the HOF....until 5 years after the player's retirement, then he's eligible for discussion... Lets get a tiny bit of distance from everyone's raging passion for everything heat of the, moment.

Also, any OP posting GOAT threads probably needs to be at least over forty so we know they haven't just been weened off of Momma's teat in life experience and Sports consumption.

So if you think the current version of Ohtani is the greatest baseball player that has ever stepped onto a field, you are an ignorant retard?

Can you elaborate?

Until he does it on a three day bender while chain smoking and slamming glizzies in the dugout, the GOAT will remain the GOAT.

Absolutely not. That’s just the extremely trendy, talking point that is being shoved down everyone’s throats right now.

He has a chance to be, but needs a complete career before being considered. At least another decade of playing.

People throw the term “GOAT” around way too frequently these days.

Yeah i think his 7 MVP trophies carry a lot of weight in this argument. Especially when comparing modern players.

And he should have had a couple more.

What Ohtani has done when you take into account his pitching hasn't been seen in a long time, but to crown him tGOAT after a few great seasons is crazy. Another stat: Bonds went 14 straight seasons from '92-'05 with OPS above 1.0. Ohtani has 3. His last 3. Got a long way to go.

Now imagine every other player on roids too. Ohtani would still be the best of his peers. Just like Bonds was.

Ohtani is in his 8th season.

Babe Ruth played 22 seasons. Ruth won 23 games as a pitcher twice, and 3 World Series before he even went to the Yankees. After that, Ruth lead the AL in home runs 12 times, hitting 60 in 1927.

Ohtani is great. But he has a long way too go, career-wise, to come close to the GOAT.

Greatness isn’t a longevity award. We think of Bo Jackson as a great because we witnessed him. No one 1st hand has an issue that he never ran for 1,000 yards in a single season. Ohtani starting pitching a game 7 while being the best batter is worth 5 MVPs and a can of soup if he wins.
