Did Woody just not do his homework on BK

Apparently it doesn’t take a lot of digging to figure out who this guy really is.
I have yet to hear anything from anybody anywhere he’s been say something good about him. How can you hire a guy like that and give him that much guaranteed money. Definitely a fireable offense

He didn't dig deep enough. Enamored by the words "Notre Dame".

If BKs contract wasn't as guaranteed as it was then nobody would've even cared if Woody did his homework. Yeah he clearly just went after name

He has 30 years of building up programs from Grand Valley State to Cincinnati to Notre Dame. A few folks making nice comments about him isnt as substantial as his track record.
A lot of LSU fans struggle to understand how very different college football is compared to even 5 years ago.
Kelly was good at managing a program in the previous era, one of the best ever. He wasnt able to prove he could manage the NIL era.
If he didnt have a shite offense none of his other faults would matter.
His biggest crime was being a shite offense at the end of the day.
Stop hiring shite offense coaches

He was a safe choice. He was here to clean this shite up. He did that. If we won cool if we didnt we are here today.

All he saw was his record at Notre Dame and appeared to be more button up compared to what we had in the chaos of coach O.
If he would have vetted Brian Kelly and those who coached and played for him, they all would have told him that he is lazy of a coach and hated by everybody.

He was 44-6 the last 4 years at Notre Dame and 113-40 overall, no it wasn’t just a “name”. Nick Saban was a raging a-hole to everyone from what I’ve heard but no one cares because he won Championships. Kelly was fired because he wasn’t winning enough. This Monday morning QBing trying to find reasons he shouldn’t have been fired is nonsense

It’s called little to no due diligence.

No, Woodys approach to the search was to keep it completely tight lipped, he only looked at candidates represented by super agent Trace Armstrong.
The way these agents work is that they don’t want their clients to have to go through the interview process, they don’t want to do full due diligence etc. It’s not the agents fault, it is at least initially what is best for their clients. However, if there is not a good mutual due diligence process then it makes it way more likely that the two parties won’t fit. So honestly in the long term I think it is bad for their clients.
Also, If you close your search to only 1 agent you at the very least guarantee yourself a bad contract.

Sunbelt Billy was one of the other options.
He hired the best coach available. It didn't work out. No further explanation needed.
You win some, you lose some. That's life.

Plenty of bad things I could say about BK but the program is in a much more stable place than it was in 2021. The right hire will be able to benefit substantially from his contributions.

The writing has always been on the wall with Kelly. You didn’t have to do that much research to see he was an avg coach at best.
Why I never liked the hire to begin with. I knew BK would fail here but not in the manner in which he did. Seems like he never even cared to accomplish anything, just wanted the $.

Sabans former players love him.

You really have to do your due diligence. Esp on character, work ethic & record against top opponents. You have to deduct the wins vs weak or not ranked teams.

Wrong, there are people like me who know you get what you pay for.
The problem is we paid top dollar for an elite coach, but we didn’t get one.

This year.
He had FAR from a "shite offense" two years ago.
His biggest issues were:
(1) assuming LSU just "recruited itself". From afar, he saw LSU routinely signing (almost) all of the best players in Louisiana. He saw bozos like Miles and O wins National Championships. So he assumed all he had to do was come down to LSU and with a little bit of effort, the strength of the program would deliver the national championship that had eluded him.
(2) Not being fully prepared to live in the freedom of transfer/NIL world.
As to No. 1, it's why he jettisoned most of O's staff and hired a lot of guys w/o Louisiana/LSU ties. He figured with LSU just recruiting itself, he could use his ND national reach to supplement. He quickly learned a HC still needs guys with Louisiana ties on staff to get Louisiana players. Those players don't just come to LSU as a matter of course. It took him a couple of years to fix that issue.
As to No. 2, he promoted an unqualified coach to OC solely to sign a great HS player without considering that all that really matters today is money. Relationships are secondary to $12M. Get the best game coaches you can and raise money for recruiting (both transfers and HS)
Bonus: (3) Don't be an a-hole. You can be an a-hole and you can be a winner. But you can't be a LOSER and an a-hole. That's why when things went south he had no allies.

Seems to be a trend amongst the older coaches hence why they are all bailing out.
