A board full of supposed MAGA voters crying that he fired the two guys all LSU fans wanted fired on Saturday night?
I acknowledge his press conferences have been silly and misleading (at best) but I’m not understanding the panic.

He goes about things in a weird way but I'm not arguing about the results.

The live Tiger in TS, Charle Kirk statue idea and now involved with LSU firing coaches and AD very publicly. He needs to just STFU.
Posted on 10/31/25 at 7:18 am to TexasTiger89
All fluff. Who cares

Will be a distant memory once the new president and AD are hired within the week. The panicans will find something else to complain about.

Its because his antics could scare away top candidates. Do you really want to coach under that guy's microscope?

Correct
A wise man knows the value of strategic silence and knows when to shut the frick up
A dumb man wants to bring attention to himself and hear himself talk

Exactly. I forgot how much these guys loved Tate, Woodward, and Kelly.

Every “top candidate” is under a microscope. What a stupid comment.

I mean he outright lied multiple times during his press conference.
And there is a huge difference between wanting coach fired and wanting a politician to be involved in it.
Also, remember that this isn't a one off deal with him getting involved in LSU. Temu Tiger, the basketball team, and a lot more. The guy seems to want to embarrass LSU every chance he gets.

People who don’t like him, now don’t want to applaud him getting done, the very thing they’ve been bitching about.
I’ve seen this pattern before somewhere

If, and I know it's a big if, TAF for some reason fails to pay the coaches the large salaries or buyouts, the taxpayers are responsible. I think he didn't articulate that clearly because he is a horrible speaker but that's been his point.
"Conservatives" upset at the guy for keeping LA taxpayers in mind for a change shows that their priorities change when it comes to LSU Football.
That being said, he should have just kept his mouth shut and worked behind the scenes as every other Governor does or has done.

The LSU BOS is politically appointed.

I think he was looking for a good national talking point and overreached. The sky is falling people either have an agenda or need to go outside. LSU is a powerhouse institution and will get who it wants.

Have you ever had a discussion with an LSU fan on any topic?

Panic, by its very nature, isn't particularly subject to a detailed understanding. It is a misfiring of a survival instinct. It is also contagious. What leadership can do is to counter it with calmness. While I don't see a lot of that going around, at least Frank Wilson has that to spare. Calmness at the top is, likewise, contagious (in my limited experience).

I don’t know what he’s doing.
I don’t know exactly what he’s competent or qualified to be doing in this regard, or whoever it is who might be competent or qualified that might be advising him on these things.
I don’t exactly know what his ultimate goal or endgame is.

I think he was looking to make national news and took the opportunity to involve himself. I think he also believed the fan base was adamantly against Kelly and Woodward, which apparently isn’t the case if you read the rant.

Probably and he fumbled because he is a horrible speaker. He's not articulate, and he tries the Trump bolster and fluff and isn't good at it at all, because he lacks the charisma Trump has to make it work.

Yea it's just the rant being the rant and melting like they always do if every year isn't like 2019 team.
The only thing that bothers me about the melt here on TD.com is that now people who have not once bitched about Landry are coming to the poli board.
Clearly, those people are simpletons if the only political issue they can discuss is the LSU football situation. They suddenly act like their opinions matter.
It shows how easily people who vote can swing on stupid issues.

I think what you are missing is that when it comes to something like LSU football, the tribes are configured differently than teh tribes of national politics.
When it comes to LSU football, you are either a supporter that wants the best for the program or you are not. Whether you are liberal or conservative politically does not matter. And a person who is in the tribe that supports the program, you have to be able to put the success of the program above yourself.
As for Jeff Landry, there are a few issues that jump out.
(1) Jeff Landry is not committed to the success of the program above his own self interest. He will attack LSU directly if he thinks that aligns with the prevailing winds of national politics. He does show boating things (like Omar) that are designed to bring attention to Jeff Landry. Folks who support the program are naturally turned off by Landry due to his very clear track record.
(2) Jeff Landry does not appear to be a competent manager of anything. His lack of competence will be given a pass in the political world because political tribes overlook incompetence. (Sad but true) But when it comes to managing LSU sports, incompetence is not tolerated. The tribe demands a higher level than competence—they demand excellence.
I guess the shorter and more direct answer is that the LSU fan base is reacting negatively to Jeff Landry getting personally involved because he is a self promoting show boater and he is incompetent,
Political affiliation has nothing to do with it.
