Had Jimbo been fired based on Woody’s original contract, he was still getting $30 Million

For those that want to try and claim Woody wasn’t responsible, even had they not given Jimbo the extension and raise, they still owed him $30 million for Woody’s asinine initial contract.
Think about that. At the time, it still would have been the largest buyout for a coach in history until this season.

And? Billy Napier got a 20 million buyout and he was a coach taken from ULL

No bro you don't get it, national championship winning coaches are lining up to take contracts that are 100% lump sums that only unlock if they win a title. If they aren't, they're just scared they can't win!

That’s interesting considering Clemson would have owed Dabo $40 million had he been fired in 2017

You can’t do math then.
He had a $75 million, 10 year contract that was fully guaranteed. He was fired after year 6, leaving 4 years of 40% of the contract left. That’s $30 million buddy.
Again, he was one of the first to give such stupid contract out and started the arms race. It also didn’t help that it wa given to a coach coming off a horrid year.

Can’t stress this enough. Woody was not the one that gave Jimbo that extension.
Now it’s important to note that in 2017, Jimbo’s was hotly pursued and lsu and fans wanted him badly. Woody gets big names and builds on those names to get other things done. Woody builds programs. Hard to do that without going big.
