While HC at McNeese and UTSA. He's not getting the LSU job folks.

And nor should he. Although it would be smart to retain him whoever comes in.

Exactly. Did he kill it at the press conference? Of course. He's a smooth talker and that is part of what makes him the recruiter he is. He has strong ties to the New Orleans area which we all know is a hotbed for talent. For those reasons he has been able to have a good career mainly as a recruiter. Will be interesting to see if that still holds true in this NIL era where everybody can pay players legally now. I wish him well. No hate here. But ask the UTSA and McNeese people about him as a HC before we get too carried away from the press conference.

Now do Ed Orgeron’s record as a HC prior to taking over as interim at LSU…
Posted on 10/29/25 at 8:26 am to sta4ever
Ed had worked as an asst to Pete Carroll, Lane Kiffin, and Jimmy Johnson. Huge difference.

And setup a mutiny from within?

If he finds a way to get this team to go 4-0 over with road wins at Bama and OU and we finish at 9-3, he will be on a short list of candidates.
No one is saying he should be the head coach based on his previous head coaching record at smaller schools.

He could go 4-0 and he shouldn't be on any list for us whatsoever. This is LSU.
Frank Wilson should never, ever, be a candidate.

What if Austin Thomas gets the AD job?
Posted on 10/29/25 at 8:35 am to Crappieman
I root for him to show his value to the next coach. Assistant Head Coach is more than attainable with him. He can calm the storm, help lock down recruiting, and ensure the next coach understands not only the LSU standard on the field but the LSU standard off the field and how to connect with the fans and former players and utilize those connections to grow the program into a monster.

So we should go after any coach with a losing record and a connection to Louisiana because they'll very likely have a season like 2019. Makes sense.

And outside one year how did that work out?
He did fine with Les' recruits, then won with the greatest team of all time, then unmitigated disaster.
No chance we go back to that

It’s not the X’s and the O’s, it’s the Jimmy’s and the Joe’s.

And all that still never made Ed O a remotely good head coach. Elite recruiter and very good Dline coach, but not a HC.

If LSU goes 4-0, meaning winning at BAMA, decent chance of making the playoffs. You don't replace a long time loyal interim HC that makes the playoffs.

That was pre-NIL college football. Now there is extreme parity, X's and O's matter a whole lot more.
Some of yall gotta get with the times.
