Won’t work in the South or Midwest but Mamdani’s can probably lock down West coast and upper east coasts.

Put a charismatic candidate in any of those places who promises progressives intersectional politics and poor people free stuff and they will compete if not win.
The battle moving forward is socialism vs conservative populism.
Anything else generally speaking will lose to those forces absent institutional/local corruption or candidate issues.

The NYC test case should be interesting. Raising taxes on the "rich" to pay for the free stuff and raising the hourly wage on people with no skills is a failure waiting to happen. People will move away at their breaking point (less tax base) and businesses will have to close or will go to automation when you raise their cost of doing business.
That said, I expect Soros and his ilk are already planning ad campaigns about how wonderful things are with socialism. They will show ads will happy minorities and everything will sound like a utopia. Hitler did the same thing before he took over Germany.

At some point, as a capitalist country, cant we outlaw socialists/communists from being able to run for office? It seems like this would be an easy solution. Their whole platform is anti American

There are so many white people who back this crap it’s a bit perplexing. These mostly weak minded people thinking that the government providing them with everything is better. They are not thinking about tomorrow about happens when they have no rights. I have a sister and a cuck husband that’s just as bad that I have nothing to do with that thought George Floyd & blm was a shining moment and government controls during covid wasn’t enough. She thought the unvaxxed and no place in society or to be treated as they posed a threat to the greater safety. For all the talk about young people returning to a more conservative lifestyle it’s sure easy for getting them back when they’re offered the golden goose that’s just down the road a bit

Not surprising. Why I've not been a fan of the "let NYC get what they voted for" sentiment. It's shortsighted on what this win says to others.
Worse part is that he may have only won based on it being a 3 man race. Cuomos ego is going to give us what Perot's did.

The issue in NY is how many out of state donors are contributing to his war chest.
Allowing people from out of state to bankroll a mayor candidate in America's biggest city is unbelievable.
People that will have no consequences from this are able to flip the tables in another state nullifying the will of the people who actually live there.

The current shared system of government isn’t going to work federally when half the populace wants socialism, European style restrictions on personal freedoms and is fine with political violence against the right.
It was never intended to accommodate that kind of divide. No system could.
The marriage between red and blue has failed and it’s time to stop pretending it hasn’t because every step we get further down the current road makes kinetic violence more likely and a soft/peaceful separation less realistic.

Along that line, I think that if Mamdani gets absolutely destroyed, it derails the DSA's plans (at least for a while). Conversely, if he easily wins then expect the DSA (and its donors) to go hard in the paint on as many elections as possible.

You can't outlaw them in a free society. The key is keeping them out in the first place. The ones who are home grown is a problem. Education about reality is the key. The ones who want socialism have never experienced it. Just give it some time.
