It's time to tear down the Baton Rouge Red Roof Inn and bulldoze everything on Boardwalk

Drive off Sherwood Forest.
The criminal activity has been going on for years.
According to the arrest warrant, the suspect was allegedly smoking drugs out of a glass pipe with a woman in the parking lot of a closed-down business next to the Red Roof Inn. Meanwhile, four men staying at the hotel were sitting outside drinking in its parking lot.
Gross allegedly went into the men’s work truck when they left to get more beer. He was reportedly stopped by one of them who had stayed behind, which resulted in an argument.
When the other men got back, Gross fired several rounds, hitting one of the men in the stomach and another in the arm, according to the arrest warrant.

Then go directly across the interstate and demolish the old OYO that is abandoned, overgrown and just about every room door is wide open. Lord only knows what's going on there after hours.

Yes - and at some point the properties have to be classified as a nuisance and the business license suspended and potentially a lien placed on the property. I've seen Baton Rouge follow a process like this maybe a handful of times ever - with OYO hotels.

You want to see a real shithole dump check out the Red Roof Inn on MacArthur Drive in Ellick. You’d have to name a LOT of bad life decisions to end up at that place.

I gotta say it was nice to see the Exxon owner pony up, buy the Chuck E Cheese, demo it and build that beautiful gas station right there. But yeah, everything else west of it needs to go.

Denham Springs is “Exhibit A” of not allowing cheap arse hotels into your city limits.
Embarrassing that they’ve allowed this to take place

Sure was nice of the city to build crosswalks on sherwood that lead to the off ramp grass areas to give the beggars a safer way across

That place was home for 30 days after the 2016 flood. Had my shoes stolen.

Red Roof Inn is a red flag.
I cluelessly stayed in one in Austin one year on Thanksgiving night because a lot of places were booked up for football, and it was conveniently located by the interstate.
That parking lot was bumping all night with activity and cars coming and going. On Thanksgiving night.

The real problem is the free federal monies aka your tax dollars that are handed out to anyone with the last name "Patel" if they will take over these failing motel properties.
Research this program. It'll make your head explode.
You and I aren't eligible even though we've been here since birth.
and, I can't speak for everyone, but I've been paying taxes since the age of 15.
This same program has funded all the Best Stops in Livingston Parish.

Tearing down Boardwalk would be helpful, but you still have N Harrells Ferry and Blvd de Province next door, which is so loaded with criminals I’m scared of where they’d scatter if that area was gentrified.

"smoking drugs" any drug at all-throw it on in there.

Okay I researched the program and no such thing exists.
This is just something that started in the 40s.
Indian families realized they could pool their money and buy motels being sold off for cheap.
It gives you a home and a business to run.
Over the years Indians have revitalized tens of thousands of hotels. And no one was stopping you or Americans from doing this same exact thing.
quote:
Early Gujarati immigrants, often arriving with limited English and capital, worked in agriculture or low-wage jobs in California. They noticed cheap, distressed motels (run-down roadside spots abandoned by aging European-American or Japanese-American owners post-WWII internment) being sold off for as little as $40,000-$120,000. Pioneers like Kanjibhai Desai bought one in San Francisco around 1942 and encouraged others to follow, sharing practical advice: live on-site, use family labor for cleaning and management, and reinvest profits.

Room 107 at the Boardwalk Suites is a certain good time.

Those OYO hotels stand for “on your own” which is what you are when you choose to stay at one.

The Patel motel is just a made up moniker.
There is no program giving money to Indians to buy up all the motels.
Sba loans have nothing to do with buying motels. I can get one to start a different business or go into the motel business.
So no, there is no such program.
Note how I never said SBA loans don’t exist.
Nothing was stopping you from buying a San Fran motel and fixing it up and having your family work there.
Last time I drove through Colorado and stayed at motels and lodges, they were owned by whites.
Maybe do some research instead of relying on some suspended x account.
