His opinion on the LSU coaching job is spot on:

quote:

Cam Newton sends warning message to LSU's next head coach

"Mediocre coaching will not be tolerated. You must understand that. So anybody who wants to insert their resume for a potential job interview, you must understand if you don't have intentions to win...do not take that job," Newton said. "Brian Kelly's demeanor ever since walking into the Bayou State has always been a little laxed. That's not what SEC represents, especially when you look at the likes of a Nick Saban, Ed Orgeron, and Les Miles. They had attitude, their teams were violent and they stood on something. So the next person who thinks about coaching LSU, or any Tier 1 team in the SEC, you can't play around. You have to be intentional and you have to win fast."

I listened to him yesterday and his takes were completely reasonable. He's been in the SEC, he knows how we treat football down here and across the conference.

Cam isn’t dumb. Except when he thought hindsight was 50/50.

That was very lucid and well thought out.

Cam is at a Sheldon Cooper level of weird, but his football IQ is equivalent.

He's been spot on the LSU coaching situation.

Right on Cam, he gets it.

He bitched us on that TD run, I've never seen anything like that since then.

it sucks if were still doing these insane guaranteed contracts because then the reward for mediocre coaching is 50 million dollars. Theres no incentive at all to win because theres no losing for the coach.

I hope weve seen the last contract like that at LSU with Brian Kelly

I can’t forgive you for that 2010 game Cam, but you’re spot on.

His takes at least seem genuine. Still hard to take him seriously, but he knows a lot about football. Which is surprising even though he won the Heisman and was an NFL MVP.
