The Tom Herman scenario worked out pretty well for LSU.

Hire our guy before Sark bolts for the NFL and Texas opens up. We would no longer be the Belle of the ball if Texas is also available.

We avoid hiring an alcoholic wild card with no sustained success.

Well for one thing, despite his proficiency in overpaying, LSU has Scott Woodward at the helm instead of Joe Alleva. At least Woodward knows how to keep things close to vest.

That’s when LSU just settles for Napier because he’s “one of us”

This thread had me curious where Tom Herman is at….sitting on the couch after being fired from FAU last year after a 2-8 start, ouch.

Ha! Now you’re getting it. What we just did is to give any and all coaching prospects a massive bump.

Because of this, whoever ends up being the new coach will likely not come from a P5 program. At least not from a noteworthy one. Who knows, maybe an NFL coach. At least they would be used to this kind of situation.

There's plenty of good candidates. Honestly you never know who is going to end up being successful.

I thought Herman was the next Urban.

Just want to give the next guy a fair shake as long as it's not some bs like Deion, James Franklin or Jimbo. A publicity hire would be the worst.

Don't let Woody make the decision.

It won’t be Napier, not sure who, but Napier got his pay day and needs to go back to UL. Maybe he lands at Tulane.

Pick 4 or 5 solid, proven candidates, vetted by the best possible Searching Teams, put a ring of silence around the entire process, and let the misinformation campaigns, the loud mouth blowhards do their sideshow, white the vetting committees do their jobs

If Woodward makes the hire we may find ourselves longing for Joe Alleva levels of competency.

Well we don’t have an assclown for an AD anymore so that’s a start.

Woody is a lot of things. Alleva he is not.

That may be true...if Woodward were steering this ship. He's not. Landry and his plaintiff attorney (campaign donors) on the BOS are. In their mind what good is doing anything if you don't get publicity for it. There will be more rumors in with this search than the last two, combined.

Remember, you didn't hear much about the LSU search during the 2016 season. Alleva zeroed in on Herman and Jimbo from the outset. LSU would have hired Herman...if Texas didn't jump in at the last second. It wasn't Alleva that leaked the news of Herman to LSU. It was Herman's representation who did so because they wanted to force Texas's hand, which was Herman's preferred choice. It worked.
