“I was FORCED to medically retire before I could get a 2nd or 3rd opinion. When I was playing very well before my injury, I’d hear from Coach Kelly quite often. The second I got injured, not a word since. Genuinely one of the worst humans I’ve been around, ever.”

If one person calls you something this bad, then it’s probably true.

Did SW or anyone else do due diligence on BK before offering that contract?

Doesn’t sound like it

Prolly not much. To do the job properly would have resulted in the news leaking.

Has any players or former players come out in support of this guy?

Would it have mattered? We were looking for a coach that could win us football games. Not a personality contest.
Everyone already knew Kelly was a c-u-n-t. Maybe not to this extent, but he was very unlikable before he ever got here.
Problem is, when he can't get it done on the field than the dislike for him grows exponentially at a rapid rate.

So basically everyone came to lsu because they really love the school and the state.
We should lose no one to the transfer portal because of this.

I think it would have mattered. A clause or two could/would be inserted into the contract to protect Lsu against him mailing it in or whatever you want to call it.

Has anyone seen a single positive thing a former player has said about Kelly. If its not negative its just "haven't really talked to him since leaving" etc.

Kelly might an a-hole but Langlois being forced to medically retire by LSU team docs is just not true.
LSU team docs certainly encourage 2nd opinions

Or “never really talked to me even though I started gor 3 years on his team”

I don't understand the FORCED to retire before 2nd or 3rd opinion.
Did Brian Kelly hold him down and prevent him from seeking other medical opinions or prevent him from playing elsewhere?
College football is now a big business and players will be processed as such. If you want a mentor, father figure, etc., go play at some small school.

Who?
I know who he is, but that’s how it goes. There’s 100+ players on the team. Of course the HC, whose time is very limited, isn’t gonna go out of his way to shoot the shite with guys who are hurt and not playing.
I played football and baseball at West Monroe. I was much better at baseball, but was good enough to start at DT/TE on the freshman football team because I had a pretty high football IQ and just enough athleticism at that time to play. I was slippery and had more TFLs and blocked punts than my athleticism really had any business making.
Anyway, Don Shows would see me and walk with me and talk with me on my way to the baseball field in the spring if he saw me. Or in the halls of our paths crossed. (He did that to all the 2 sport players, I was not special). But he called me by name and was very friendly. Knew how I did in the last baseball game. I didn’t get any taller after 8th grade (6 ft), and the guys who played my position in football shot up, and all wound up 6’4” and playing D-1.
So they fatted me up and tried to make me a tackle/blocking TE. Went from 160 the fall of my freshman year to 220 the spring of my sophomore year. Went from playing SS to 1B. Finally had to say “frick this,” I’m not sacrificing my baseball career to be a fat arse offensive lineman. So I quit football, lost weight, and played SS/3B/P my JR. and SR. seasons. The day I quit football was the 1st day Don Shows ignored my existence. Never spoke a word to me again. And he was the AD and the football HC, so he “should” have cared about baseball, since it was technically under his purview. But he only cared about football. But I didn’t get my feelings hurt. I didn’t expect him to “waste” his time talking to me when he could have—and did—spent it talking to football players. That was his baby.
BK is clearly an a-hole. But I don’t think him not taking a bunch of his time out to talk to Mathew Langlois when he wasn’t playing is some unforgivable sin. I bet most HCs these days don’t have close relationships with most players. That’s for the position coaches. Saban sure didn’t. And that’s ok.
That was one of Orgeron’s special talents. He remembered everybody—even the guys he didn’t land— and seemed to genuinely care about them and their families. Again, even if he didn’t land them. I think that talent would be very valuable in the age of the portal.

Kelly processed him. I think there was a rule that a school could add a scholarship to the next class when a player medically retires. But not if they leave/transfer.

if we don't hire another dinosaur, LSU will most likely get an uptick in recruiting and transfers. Players like the idea of playing for LSU
