He would be crazy to leave Oregon. He has unlimited resources, any easy path to the playoffs every year.

Other Oregon coaches have voluntarily left before. It's not like they fight real hard to keep them.

They'll just promote or find the next assistant out there, and continue winning a lot of games.

Oregon wins on its own. You can plug any coach in there and they will win a lot.

Its why Lanning doesnt impress me at all. Literally unlimited resources and still cant win the big one.

Only reasons I could see is if:
1.) he really wants the challenge of coaching in the top conference

2.) the way there conference is set up it a lot more distance to travel for road games

Thats all I could come up with as possible reasons

Maybe, and I emphasize maybe, but he possibly didn’t want to follow Saban at Bama, LSU is not an easy location for any coach, but it’s nothing compared to following Sabans time at Bama.

He can’t leave. Would have to pay Oregon 20 mill plus worth of Nike stock he is owed in his contract he signed. So prob 50-60 mill would be owed Ducks is he left.

You obviously have not looked at Lannings history. Look at it. It will change your outlook

The Oregon job is not as well thought of as the LSU job.

He may also want to come back to the SEC

Feels like they’d fight harder to keep Lanning than they have for other coaches, but I hope I’m wrong. I’d love if we got him.

Thats beautiful country up there. The parity in the Big 10 is not like the SEC. Its an easier path IMO. I dont think he goes anywhere.

Competitive people aren’t interested in “easy paths”.

Eugene, Oregon is very difficult to get to for most of the country. They have to offer insane amounts of Nike money to get kids interested in going there. As far as location, BR is significantly easier to attract players to and for the coaches to travel from for recruiting.
