Don't do this to yourself. Saban still works for Alabama.

I think it's fairly obvious

What ISN'T obvious is the contract.

No ten year deal if avoidable, but I'd consider an evergreen clause, which extends the contract by one year when a certain goal, likely a CFP appearance, is reached

LSU football and the fanbase needs a shot in the arm. This would do it.

It's Kiffin if we can afford the bidding war. He may command $15mm a year fully guaranteed though and I don't think we are willing to go there.

Why can’t contract lengths be incentive based? Start with 5 years guaranteed and every 10 win season adds 2 years

I think Florida is going to move on and get Drinkwitz, I doubt a program with issues like they have would wait for Lane.

In that case, Ole Miss isn't gonna outbid us for him imo

As soon as he was asked about the LSU opening in today’s press conference he started avoiding eye contact with the reporter who asked the question. Physical cues indicate he gone.

Because the competition is offering guaranteed contracts with buyouts. You aren't getting good a good coach unless you offer the same.

It's free market 101

It's a poorly kept secret that he really wanted this job in 2021. I think he'd immediately sign an offer if the money was close

We didn't even interview him in 2021 though, he might be salty about it. If OM matches money I could see a scenario he stays.
Really just depends on his head space and if he thinks he can win a championship at OM or not ( I don't think it's possible without the stars completely aligning )

Eventually something’s gotta give. I would hope in the near future, the coaching salary guarantees would be smaller with guaranteed NIL money as an incentive.

i dont think its being overthunk, it's all about timing. I think once they are out of the playoffs or playoff race is when you will hear about it and not a moment sooner
