Real smart let’s go get a coach who has been coaching in the American league. Guy hasn’t really proved much. Let’s go get a someone from NFL, SEC, Big 10.

Some may posit that a good coach is a good coach regardless of the level they’re coaching at.

My problem with Sumrall is that he didn’t build Tulane….it was already setup for him by Fritz.

We need a daily limit on how many threads a person can start.

This type of thinking would’ve costed Florida urban Meyer who was at bowling green and Utah before Florida. Saban was at Toledo and MSU before he came here.

Sumrall is the exact candidate we need : young, hungry , confident , charismatic , has sec experience as a player ( LB At Kentucky as a player ) and as a coordinator ( was the DC at Kentucky in 2021 , they were a top 25 defense ). Turned around Troy and has had success at Tulane. We tried to big splash hire with Kelly I say go get the young up and comer

That’s literally false. Over 60 players including their star qb entered the portal after Fritz left. He literally had to rebuild that squad primarily through his own evaluations in the portal why are folks acting like he took over an already made team lol

This. He also took over a mess at Troy, and won 23 games and 2 conference championships in 2 years.

No but is it providing context and telling the full picture not important ? Your point would have weight is he walked into a situation similar to what Ryan day walked into when urban retired but Sumrall didn’t inherit the pieces that helped make Fritz successful that’s just the facts brother

Good points. I’d like to know what high school coaches in Alabama and Louisiana have say about him and some of his past players.

There’s not enough resume for him to be considered a good coach or an average coach. He knows what he’s doing, which is why he was so good at Troy, but Tulane dropped off a bit since he took over for Fritz, who had Tulane actually relevant.

We are watching him get trounced by UTSA now….not seeing what everyone else does in him.

I think Sumral is realistically the only good HC LSU could get at this point. Even Ole Miss now looks like a better job.
