And like what I heard. Straight up guy, Not a smug dick like BK. (my finger almost puked when I typed BK). He is actually leading in the betting odds right now, wouldn't be mad.

Will the powers that be look down on getting a coach from Tulane? Any ego issues to worry about?

I hope we look at substance over splash, but I have little confidence in our powers that be.

He’s really good at saying the right things and hyping people up

Good coach but probably not LSU material

Look at how kelly turned out, hopefully they can put their pride aside.

Geez. If we're still going to suffer from ego-driven decisions then we're already doomed.

Here's hoping that whomever is doing the hiring will look back at the last couple of years under the Ogre and Kelly's reign and decide to do the right thing by the team, the fans, and the players.

Then again, Louisiana politics....

It was nice to see him not crap on Troy after he left (not saying that he had a reason to do so). I liked that he was thankful to them for giving him his first head coaching job.

I am watching a lot if Sumrall's interviews and he's growing on me. I don't think I would be mad at it.

If/when Sumrall leaves he will be a guy I likely will always root for (minus when he plays against Tulane). I don't see him shitting on Tulane the way Fritz kinda had Kurt Hester do when he left for Houston.

That says a lot right there. Any downsides to him that you have?

Have you seen Kiffin's record against top 25?

I saw him in Norman this weekend with a D3 QB and a terrible defense.

No coach besides Day or Kirby will look good with that record.

To be fair, that "D3 QB" was actually QB1 on a Ferris team that won their division's national championship, so....

His wife went to Auburn before OT school. With them likely having an opening, it might’ve difficult for him to fight that battle.

I've said in a few threads that I don't think he is ready for a power job yet. This year we haven't played a full 60 minutes yet (maybe the Northwestern game but we pretty much sat on the ball in the 2nd half). While we are 6-1 (and I'm very happy about that!) we could easily be 2-5.....in the past (say before Fritz) this team would be 2-5 maybe even 1-6.

With the exception of the Northwestern game and the arse beating by Ole Miss the games have been closer than they should be.

We are bad in the redzone this year. Way to many field goals. I think the BEST thing for Sumrall would be for his OC to get hired by UAB or someone as a HC.

While he has been coaching for a long time he has only been a HC for 3.5 years so he is still kind of learning how to steer the ship if that makes sense.

I know he is destined for a bigger job I just don't know if he would be successful at LSU/Auburn next year considering how kinda up and down the team has been this year.

I would also add without Jake Retzlaff bailing us out we could easily be 2-5 or 3-4 this year and this isn’t even a conversation

Tulane caught a huge break with Retzlaff getting kicked off BYU and adding him right before the season
