If LSU is looking to take a chance on a young hungry guy with strong LA ties : kelvin Sheppard and Jon Sumrall should be your top 2 candidates you go after
If LSU wants to get ambitious and go after a proven big name coach: Lane kiffin and Dan Lanning should be your top 2 targets. Lanning may be a harder fish becusse idk if he leaves Oregon but his personality is flat out a perfect fit.

That's apparently really important to some.

If I was an AD at a contender, Dan Lanning would be my first interview. He would have to tell me no before there would be a second interview.

What has he proven? He has proven he is a good OC and excellent play caller.

Kelvin Sheppard inherited a decent defense with a fantastic complimentary offense in a great locker room culture with a a strong leader. It’s about as good a situation as a young coach can be put in.
He shouldn’t remotely be a consideration for a top 5 job in the country

Yeah I’m all about the young and hungry guy. I don’t really care how small a program a guy has built up as long as they’ve built something themselves. I just think he’s been thrust into a perfect spot where anyone halfway decent would find success.

Sheppard - has been a coordinator for this season - pump the brakes

That’s a valid point as great as Sheppard has looked Dan Campbell is running that locker room he’s the clear leader. Sumrall built up a god awful Troy team in two years , and has Tulane at 6-1 despite only 5 starters from his team last year returning. I also like that he has a heavy defensive background
