Rattler vs Shough

Still find it odd that so many people on this board are such adamant defenders of Rattler, but to each their own. Regardless of what you think of him or Shough, this is not an either / or race. The most likely outcome is that they both suck. We have seen enough of Rattler to know that the minute he leaves the game manager role, he goes from "good enough to not be the reason we lost" to "dumpster fire" real quick.
It is OK to objectively want to see what Shough can do. This season is lost and we spent a top 40 pick on him. History will say that he will not succeed because of where he was picked and his age. We are coasting to the top pick of the draft and will absolutely know what we have by the end of the season.
It is not Shough vs Rattler, its current QBs on the roster vs QBs in the draft.

You have been around long enough to know this will not happen

How would you know this? All I know is Shough looks at least as good as Rattler with no first team reps and 0 NFL starts.

I love that Rattler gets 14 games and “he’s improving let’s see what he’s got”
And shough matches that level of play in one qtr of hair on fire mid game replacement but we are already on the “both suck” train.

Just to be honest about the situation, he didn’t look as good as the best version of Rattler this year. He looked similar to the bad version of Rattler. With all that said you can’t judge him just off what we saw yesterday. If he starts then the real determination would take place then.

Taking recent drafts into account (2025 - 2014), the odds of Shough being anything but a backup are low. Here are all the QBs that were drafted outside of the 1st round, but within the first 75 picks. Derek Carr is the absolute creme of the crop of that group.
Will Levis - 33rd pick
Hendon Hooker - 68th pick
Desmond Ridder - 74th pick
Kyle Trask - 64th pick
Kellen Mound - 66th pick
Jalen Hurts - 53rd pick
Drew Lock - 42nd pick
Mason Rudolph - 76th pick
DeShone Kizer - 52nd pick
Christian Hackenberg - 51st pick
Garret Grayson - 75th pick
Derek Carr - 36th pick
Jimmy Garoppolo - 62nd pick

lets have this conversation at the end of the year. That should be enough time for Shough to make a determination on the draft or FA.

If we win 1 more game with Shough, is that 1-8 record going to haunt him?
Rattler has been bad the last 2 games but before we look for another QB, we need to bolster the roster. Instead of drafting a QB, grab a vet on the cheap. At least surround whoever starts with a decent roster. This team is arse.

I guess I just don’t agree with this.

We put up 0 points and that was with Tampa playing very vanilla schemes at the end. You have to take the dropped passes into account but, It was as easy of a situation as possible for him. No expectations and the game mostly over at the time he entered.

b/c we can call it like we see it? neither one of these guys are starting NFL QBs...
you can sit here and say Shough only has played a little bit, but let's not forget, it was an OPEN competition to be starting QB... and this is for an incoming new HC who has no ties to EITHER of these clowns... and he lost that competition... so cry me a river about his lack of playing time... that's on HIM...
point blank, both of them suck arse, and it's pretty fricking apparent... you can believe what you want to believe, but when you FINALLY come to the realization that Shough is just as terrible as Rattler, i promise not to say i told you so

Yeah the 2nd round is traditionally a qb dead zone historically.

Objectively false but you are incapable of being objective about this current situation

It is arse. But I don’t think you can speak in absolutes about when you grab the qb. If you have the ability to take someone you TRULY view as a long term franchise guy you take him even if you continue to suck and he sits for a year or so

That's the thing. No QB in this draft is that guy.

Bunch stop replying to my posts. You’re one of the biggest pieces of shits on this site and I prefer not to have interactions with you.

At this point, let them both get significant time to start. You're not going anywhere this year, and you need to see exactly what you have before free agency and the draft next spring.

Will you be honest? No reps with first string in one quarter and a half. If he is looking like that in that time frame, then use him. Not the guy that looks like that after 14 games.

I’m probably one of the few people on this board that’s unbiased. You Rattler/Shough people are unhinged.

People keep posting this shite. I promise you it doesn’t matter. That quarter in a half will be the easiest moments of the season for him.
I promise you, if Todd Bowles wanted to get after him he would have.
