The way he responded to Cauble was the beginning of the end. Everyone knew the trajectory of this team and he was unwilling to confront it and make a change.

It felt like it in the moment. When I watched him call Cauble (and the entire fanbase by extension) spoiled, I knew it was over for him. That singular comment proved to everyone that he had no idea the tradition at LSU, the expectations at LSU, and what the LSU fanbase wants. It was a glaring moment in the Kelly era at LSU that will always be seen as "the moment" he was done.

Stubborn SOB gave off Les Miles vibes there at the end. Good riddance

Like the two that preceded him, his tenure was ended because of decisions made at the coordinator level

He didn't want to fire the OC because that would be too much work for him!

Certainly seems that way. I think he also struggled balancing the promises he made to players/agents with expectations of preparation and play.

His dedication to Sloan and Nuss cost him his job

Cauble was not being unreasonable either.

This is why I dont think he coaches again. He doesnt wanna go somewhere and build up for 2-3 more years to have a chance at the playoff
All he needed for his legacy was a Natty and that ship has sailed

That and sat Nuss for MVB. Dude did it to himself and was rightly fired for it.

for CEO coaches like Kelly, that's usually how it goes.

He Les Miles’d the frick out of himself & someone should’ve told him this program already saw that movie.
I’ll do you one better — BK could still be here if he did absolutely nothing different this year aside from bench Nuss & commit to Berry getting 20 touches per game.
That’s it. That’s all they had to do. We’d be 7-1 at worst.

He revealed in that moment he had nowhere near the attitude and mindset of a real winner.
If Saban was coach he’d be the one pissed about the outcome and the media would be trying to find bright spots. Then again if Saban was here it wouldn’t have happened.

actually, more important than firing sloan this season was sitting an injured Nussmeier. I've seen 2 games this year where nuss could actually throw the ball. He might as well have been wearing a cast on his throwing arm.

Yes, wasn’t fair to Nuss or the program.

The whole “family” deal when he was first announced was a national goof up. But to me it seemed like he was trying to embrace Louisiana and our culture, which I appreciated.
His efforts unfortunately ended there. You’ll never be successful here if you don’t embrace Louisiana. The next coach must understand this. It doesn’t have to be over the top, see Jay Johnson. But you can’t turn your back on us like he did to Cauble.

I’m ok with checking the media if they deserve it, but don’t be an ignorant dick.

He got fired because he refused to change.....just like Les. Except Les was a winner here....
