Is Kiffin worth 10-13 million a year

The guy has had 3 elite jobs with the raiders, Tennessee, and USC and failed. Yes he has shown he can win some at Ole Miss, but I'm not sold on selling your soul for a guy who is far from a surefire thing. LSU can't afford to have another gigantic miss on a coach with a gigantic contract.

Can you say "Kiffin for 12 million"

LSU should not hire a coach who wants to come here purely for the money and should not give a long term contract. If they think LSU is the best place to win the NC they will be rewarded after they win.

I know for a fact three things that would happen if we hired Kiffin.
- LSU would develop an offense overnight.
-Lane would actually give a frick.
-10 wins would become the norm.
The first one is enough for me. I like Lane .

No.
We should never hire a coach for that much upfront again.
If he earns that for an extension sure.
There’s just too many variables that go into being a successful head coach that we should never guarantee that up front in the NIL era.

Unless you're an alumnus and played for the school, every coach is only going somewhere for the money. It's a business decision. A job.

A new contract for Kiffin is going to be >$12.5MM/yr.
And no I don’t think he’s worth that. Has fielded some good offenses, but not consistently putting out top tier complete product on the field.
Feels safe but it’s an overpay.

He’s worth $13 million a year with no buyout. I think the contracts with buyouts are outdated. Removing them will mean you have to pay coaches considerably more each year, though.

For Kiffin: 5 years, $12 million per year, with performance enhancements. First enhancement is 10 wins at a minimum, and go from there.

Yes it is a business and you get rewarded after you deliver.

If it becomes a bidding war between Florida, PSU and LSU...
...you better raise that hypothetical number to $14-15 million a year.

The Raiders were a dysfunctional organization when Al Davis gave him that job for 20 games, he only spent one season in Knoxville, and he had to deal with NCAA sanctions from the Reggie Bush investigation when he was at USC.
Not to mention those three gigs were well over a decade ago. They have no relevance to his candidacy for the LSU job now.

Someone will pay him that. It’s just a matter of who.

Who gives a shite? Rather overpay for your top candidate than settle for someone mediocre. No one is going to miss that extra 2 million per year if the team is winning.

No one is a sure thing and anyone with experience compared to Kiffin is going to be at least $10M.
At this level, you can not afford to NOT hire a guy if you feel he is The Guy at just about any cost.
Lets say in 2022 we had hired Riley, or Kiffin, or Harbaugh or whoever was going to get a massive contract. And we went apeshit stupid and gave them $12M a year. If, big IF, they had succeeded in getting us to the playoffs the last two years, not winning the CFP, but simply getting us there....we would be much better off in that the scenario than the reality of today.
Point being you either "risk it" by offering big money or play if "safe" and hope it works out for less money. Which one is the bigger risk to a program with a legitimate goal of a NC in say the next 5 yrs? Its not that cut and dried and I would hate for my livliehood to be on the line due to the outcome of that one decision.

You can’t look at Kiffin past the last few years! Before that it was no NIL. Kiffin with NIL at a program like LSU is a Homerun hire! Players coach and fans would love him. Just think of what he can do with the money lsu will bring in for players and he would always have a good QB! Look what he has done with a division 3 transfer this year!

I really dgaf what the coach costs.
1) people have a right to spend whatever tf the want on whatever tf they want.
2) After seeing them get rid of Kelly this soon, I’m pretty sure money doesn’t exist to these people.
Just hire the right guy.
