Going there for a wedding. We are taking the daughter (no pics, I would be a dead man) and son-in-law, so I would like something classy. Don't mind spending a few bucks.

Also, from what I have heard about Shreveport, maybe in a part of town where there is only a small chance of getting murdered?

Thanks in advance.

Superior steakhouse is one of the nicest places.

I’ve also heard 2 John’s is nice but never been.

I’ll type out some more places when I get home.

Edit:
I dont actually live there anymore and was on a med school budget when I did, so Im not an expert.

Steakhouse:
Superior Steakhouse (had good experience)
2 Johns (never went but heard good things).

Italian:
Chianti (I have family that really like this place).

Tex Mex:
Superior Grill

Tacos:
Ki Mexico

Seafood:
Oyster Bar. A casual sport for burgers, fish, and pobobys. I really like this place.
Ernest's. This is like an upscale seafood place. Never been but heard its good. That part of town is old. Would probably use the Valet.

Mabry House is a fine dining place in an old house. Never been but have heard good things. Would need reservation.

Ill probably come up with some more.

I was never impressed with the food at Superior Steakhouse for the prices they charge. I have had some downright bad meals there. To me 2Johns is consistently better. Never had a bad meal or experience at 2Johns.

Where are you staying? I heard recently that 2John's isn't as good as it used to be, but I haven't eaten there in a while.

Mae & Co (more casual) or Heron (more formal), but both have great menus and are run by the same chef.
The Pearl has been putting out some great specials lately
Tejas is casual, but has a good menu
Bella Fresca
Sauvage has an Oktoberfest menu right now that looks awesome.

Thanks, everyone, for the great advice. It sounds like we are giving 2Johns a shot, although I can likely be talked out of it.

The Hilton. Does that matter? I don't know anything about Shreveport.

2Johns is great food. Superior Steakhouse is on par in my opinion, with a better ambiance. Much much better bar area. I think the experience overall is more impressive at superior, although I enjoy the food at 2Johns as well. Fat Calf and Zuzul are two other higher end restaurants, but again, superior is the better experience overall.

Downtown Hilton? It’s nice but I wouldn’t walk around downtown after dark.

As far as non food entertainment. I wouldn’t walk around recommend Norton’s Art Museum and Gardens. It’s probably the best thing to see in town.

Ernest Orleans was my favorite, but that was 25 to 30 years ago. It was old back then too. I’d be curious if the food and service are still good.

I’ve never been, but I talked to somebody who went in the last year and said it was good.

Totally agree with the Superior/2 John’s comparison. The food is relatively equal, but the setting and bar area puts Superior ahead IMO. Big fan of Fat Calf and Chianti as well. Have done our past few birthday and anniversary dinners at those two recently.

Fat Calf and Ki Mexico are the best two restaurants in town. Zuzul is right there. Yes, Fat Calf is in a neighborhood that gets REAL dicey a few blocks north but I haven't heard of any problems making their way to that corner. Very good but very small bar, they have some very good steaks, but not a big selection of cuts. Great appetizers and mains.

Ki Mexico is pretty casual but their weekend specials (check social media) are usually very, very good. Their tacos are very good, too, but their soups and specials are great.

Zuzul does seafood great. Land animals are hit and miss.

For a steak place, Superior or 2 Johns.

Lucky Palace has excellent Chinese (no-bullshite), but they moved out to Haughton away from the felony-ridden motel that it lived in for years, and was part of the experience.

Yes, you can get got in SHV. But probably not at any of those places.

Ki' Mexico is the best Mexican restaurant on earth.

Said what I said.

I know people that drive from Dallas just for Ki Mexico poblano tacos. And that dude travels Mexico and the southwest hunting Mexican restaurants and he was the one that said it's the best on earth. That's his hobby apparently.

Edit to add, their goat birria is shockingly good. There's nothing bad there although I'm not a fan of the prickly pear tacos, although if you are, those are probably really good ones.
