He wasn’t his bitter self last night he actually took responsibility for the loss and said it’s his job to fix it. He seem disengaged and uninterested to me. Like he was told you’ll finish out this year and that’s it.

Why would he walk away from all that money? I’d be like you want me gone fire me and pay me or get out of my office.

. Is this the first time you watched his press conferences? He literally says this exact same thing after every loss along with “we need to coach better.”

Guess what. He never fixes it and has no idea even how to fix it.

That was resignation and hopelessness you saw.

When you are more than half way through your fourth year in a program and all you are taking about is what YOU have to fix, what is actually the problem seems pretty obvious.

Disengaged is a good word for the way he is coaching

He knows it’s over. He’s just trying to act appropriately, for the first time, in order to preserve his next assignment (announcer, etc.)

I think he knows it's over too. If he didn't know yesterday morning, he knows now. I think the hope for getting out of the contract is that I do think he wants to be a talking head, so he has to know that this can't get really ugly, or that won't happen. He's an a-hole, everybody knows it, and if that's magnified by his exit from LSU, he won't have the post coaching career he's hoping for.

I dont even think he cares as much about the money as his pride. 'Retiring' and surrendering some of his Buyout means he is personally acknowledging his failure.

These coaches are way too proud / egotistical to do that. He will stick through to the end with the delusion that he somehow fixes this.

I think the writing on the wall is too strong for any delusions of fixing it. Instead, his type will blame everyone around him for the failure: the assistants, the players & NIL, lack of support by the boosters, fans, etc. Thus, he’s entitled to every bit of the buyout.
