My daughter wants a gaming laptop, but she is using her own money. I don't know anything about them. What are some good entry laptops that are pretty reasonable in price? Thanks.

I can't answer your question, but in order to help those who can, what kind of games does she play? What's her budget?

As Sl0thstronautEsq said, we need to know her budget and what types of games she's wanting to play.
A remastered, older, niche game like Pharoah is going to have different recommended specs from something current but made for a wide range of machines like Fortnite which is going to be different from something new and resource intensive like being one of the 5 players of Pax Dei.

I am not sure what she wants to play. The budget is $1k or less, but closer to $500-$600 would be preferable. Thanks.

You can potentially find decent deals on low end gaming laptops if you live near a microcenter. $500-600 is quite low end though. What games does she actually play?
You may also want to look at something like a Steam deck hand held if she just wants this for gaming and not also use it for school or something else.

I highly recommend. I've owned 2 Legions, and they have worked flawlessly. They usually run some pretty good sales especially around black friday. Check slickdeals.net often for good deals.

At that price point, it's actually really important that we know what she's planning to play. She can either have a good CPU or a good GPU, but not both. Knowing whether the games she plays is more CPU or GPU bound would be very helpful.

I asked her. Her answer was Hogwarts Legacy and Batman.
How is this one?

Check out the Newegg MSI laptops. I bought a $1k laptop with a 4060 that came with a $300 rebate.

A laptop 3050 isn’t going to provide a good experience in those kinds of games.

Especially for a laptop, I think I would want to wait at least for the early Black Friday sales before pulling the trigger on anything.

Best Buy had some open box ASUS gaming laptops that were a pretty good deal. I picked up a ROG Strix G16" AMD Ryzen 9 HX, 16 GB RAM (upgradeable), NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, 1 TB SSD (upgradeable). The only downside was the screen was a FHD, not their super duper one. If she uses another monitor then she can get around that. For the games I play, the screen isn't a big deal. Not bad for $1,300.
