He’s not a very good live singer either. Sounds good in the studio though
But he’s a hellava song writer and musician

The "1979" video hits hard on this old man's memory banks.

I'm at just the right age where I've heard of The Smashing Pumpkins, and I recognize the name Billy Corgan, but I can't even hum a single song of theirs.
I had checked out of pop music by the time they came along. Same for The White Stripes, who were huge, but I discovered them years later. There's still time for Pumpkins, but not yet.

Not really. He was difficult at certain points in his younger days esp with regard to his band mates , and yes he took himself seriously, but he was authebtic and never sucked industry dick 24/7 likw Grohl and Anthony Kiedis to get into the RNR hall of fame.
He’s actually very well regarded by journalists as approachable and candid. Treats his fans well, etc.

Emptiness is loneliness
And loneliness is cleanliness
And cleanliness is godliness
And God is empty
Just like me
And loneliness is cleanliness
And cleanliness is godliness
And God is empty
Just like me

Took? Have you heard him talk lately? Nobody loves Billy Corgan as much as Billy Corgan.
