Rifle season opens in my area this Saturday. Looking like a rain out. Hopefully I can squeeze in a morning hunt before it starts, but I'm not confident on the timing when the rain starts.

What do y'all think?

I'm in West Cenla near the TX border.

Looking like some pretty good rain in most of the area on Saturday. Sunday evening might better.

Put all that high dollar rain gear to work.

Oh, I'm going.

I just like cooking bacon and eggs under a tin roof camp in the rain more than I like sitting in a box stand in the rain.

I hope it will hold off until mid morning, but the hour by hour isn't promising. 65% chance at daylight in my area.

They can’t seem to agree on when the rain is gonna start. I bet it’s later in the afternoon. Go

If you don’t go it will be clear and you could have hunted. Those small windows between heavy rain or before the rain and right after several hours of rain is typically good.

I can always count on y'all to bring me back from the edge. I was starting to get depressed.

I got depressed learning that area 2 was opening so early because I still have three more weeks in area 4

So please, go for the rest of us that can't yet (rifle anyways).

I’ll be sitting in the rain too. You only get so many opening weekends in a lifetime, and mine are getting less and less; so I’m going.

ETA: I'll be sitting in a box stand in the rain.

We’re going. My son has already informed me that the first brown is down. I’ll be cleaning deer mid day hopefully.

I’ll be out of town. I may do a Thursday evening hunt. I’m out of town the following weekend too. I don’t plan very well.

I had more activity on my cameras yesterday/ last night than all year, they are feeding before the rain .

That day before a big storm has always been good

Don't want to kill your buzz, but they let the lake down without warning and we need rain to get it back up. Tear down that damn at Jourdan creek dammit.

Did they really? I drove out to the spillway killing time when I was bow hunting down there 2 weeks ago and the lake looked great.

If we get the kind of rain they are talking about it will flood that whole bottom.

I need water in my duck hole, but I've noticed it doesn't hold as well when the lake is down. I think it's so sandy that the water level of the lake determines whether my hole holds water or not.
